No kidding, you won't find a more genuine group of people. There's so much potential here in Ohio. We humbly hope to live up to the standard they set at the site. Can't wait to be here a lot more!
@caorilne I think it’s easy to view process as hoops to jump through. But in truth, it help developers perfect their product & more exactly pinpoint their value proposition, AND it establishes lines of communication based on TRUST. Trust early on helps overcome hurtles later on. #SMR
@caorilne I LOVE to see this positive engagement. I’ve always valued the time I worked closely with the people of Piketon. They’re people of true substance who you know care deeply about their community. Good faith engagement absolutely is a critical 🧩 for the future of advanced nuclear!
Nuclear innovator @oklo was originally planning a 1.5 MW mini-reactor targeting off-grid use at premium price point. Now, "with where we’ve seen the market and customers go," Oklo is marketing uprated 15 MW unit w/plans to build #1 @ INL & #2-3 @ Ohio site

Great points! Moreover, lessons from the shared, global history of nuclear energy teach us that, by most every measure, the BEST outcomes are process-driven. I love to see industry driving the build out of social, political and regulatory frameworks for #advancednuclear.
We are often asked why don't we just go to a country where the regulatory process is "easier."
Several reasons why we are starting in US:
1) customers here
2) countries billed as "easier" aren't
3) no loopholes/ countries w/o reg infrastructure don't want to be guinea pigs.

#BarbieMovie vibes only this afternoon in support of all the brilliant woman in #nuclear science & policy 💅 💄 ⚛️ 👩🏻🔬If we don’t have something nice to say, let’s just put our phones back in our big boy pockets and let these ladies save the world 🌎 💖
I don't think the target audiences for Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" and Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" overlap all that much, so I don't see what the problem is with them both premiering on July 21, 2023.
Barbie fans aren't really into "I am become Death, destroyer of worlds."
As Germany closed its last three nuclear reactors this weekend, Finland's brand-new 1.6GW reactor has entered full commercial operation, generating 30% of the country's electricity demand, and has reduced its dependence on imports from Sweden https://t.co/hlTzcZcC8h
@J_Lovering Still, even if there isn’t a correlation btw nuclear & authoritarianism, is there analysis on regime of countries that export nuclear tech/assistance, & the extent that this determines democratic health of importing country? Can we measure the strength of that relationship?
💭Literature recommendations that examines the democratic dimensions of #nuclearenergy? Some papers I know of discuss the relationship between countries that peruse commercial nuclear energy and ⬆️ likeliness of authoritarian governance, but … (1/2)
@J_Lovering … state-regulated/funded nuclear programs =/= authoritarianism (always)? That makes intuitive sense to me and you point out some great country examples.
Is there analysis out there confirming if that relationship is inherent to nuclear tech OR is the current rhetoric correct, which focuses on the country sharing the tech to new countries? ➡️ Is this a classic “resource curse” or are authoritarian governments quicker to engage?
A❓for my #scicom friends and #nuclear energy girlies: I love @AnaKasparian’s point on the value of challenging our ego and prioritizing new learning. It is a brave, good-faith effort that many on the left have made (bc of climate change) to revisit nuclear. 🧵
Yes! Count on @EnergyCAorg to deliver well-vetted recommendations that 100% make the case for strategic and equitable solutions to our nation’s greatest environmental liabilities. So good to have local government voices and interests organized so effectively.
We're fans, @EnergyCAorg!
Finalizing nuclear waste disposal locations and plans could help clean up decades-old environmental legacy sites.

So… how do we give credit to the thoughtful, ideological shifts we see from some of todays biggest thought leaders (@AOC 👀🤩) while also still advocating for the long-term relevancy and efficacy of nuclear?
But I want more for nuclear! I know that nuclear energy has so many long-term benefits/applications (not just for climate change, but also nat. security, global development, EJ, etc.).
