@TangerineBank After noticing suspicious activity on my account I’ve tried calling and requesting a call back. I waited for 45 minutes on hold last night and over 45 minutes waiting for the call back, which the website said would be 10 minute wait. How can I get some support?
@CBCOntarioToday One of the reasons talking about infertility is so hard is the lack of knowledge about infertility in the general public. Conversations like this help. Also, people should watch @howtobuyababy on CBC if they want to understand and empathize.
If you just read the headline, this very important point might be lost: “The test was not measuring whether students can read or do arithmetic, but whether they can take written or numerical information and use it to solve problems.” #literacy#numeracy https://t.co/bFow91JT6E
The purpose of education is the betterment of humanity. It’s as simple & complex as that.
This means recognizing, valuing & supporting all of humanity. This should be so obvious that we don’t actually need to say/write it, but apparently we absolutely do need to. #OntEd#OnPoli
@JenApgar @beepreemo@RylanPranger So not much has changed... besides students who receive accommodations on a regular basis having access to them for test. I don’t understand the reporting on leaving displays up and removing anything of an instructional nature. That was always the rule.
@JenApgar And so much IS based in on averages. I’m so glad I read “The End of Average” by @toddrose before having a baby. Every milestone, weight gain, etc. is all based on averages, which can really freak a new mom out.
@JenApgar If this research doesn’t stand up to replication, what other studies that anchor educational decisions and actions might not stand up to replication?
It could happen that the children of poorer and middle-class #parents will be raised by screens, while the children of Silicon Valley's elite will be going back to wooden toys and the luxury of human interaction @nytimes https://t.co/X8baIcrt6I #edchat#edtech#parenting
Town halls for #OntEd consultation start Oct 19. 1 topic is #EQAO. Reminder Independent Review of Assessment, involving 5000+ Ontarians, reported in March. Final Report is no longer available on Ministry website. Available here https://t.co/LHCIsWkmk2 & via @HargreavesBC#OnPoli
I’m building up my classroom library in preparation for going back to the classroom in March. I’ll be teaching Grade 4/5 for the first time and would love some book recommendations. What are 9-11 year olds reading these days? #ugdsb#booklover#CanLit
@ReayofSunshine@cbcbooks I’ve been working on the list for the past 4 years (with lots of other reading as well), but I definitely have to work harder to fit in the reading now!
I finally finished all 100 novels that make you proud to be Canadian. I read books that I never would have picked up otherwise, met new authors, and found new favourites. Thanks for the great experience, @cbcbooks! What to read next... #canlit https://t.co/OudMgBzfCK
@SharifKhanBooks@cbcbooks By reading books I didn’t enjoy, I was able to clarify what I appreciate in writing, stories, and characters. Sometimes the books I didn’t like are the ones that still resonate with me, months and years later.
@SharifKhanBooks@cbcbooks The biggest overall lesson I’ve learned is to read books I wouldn’t normally pick up. Sometimes I was surprise by how much I enjoyed a book I would never have chosen to read. Sometimes I saw a new perspective or learned something from a book I didn’t enjoy.
@SharifKhanBooks@cbcbooks New favourites: Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese, Half-Blood Blues by Eli Edugyan, Spin by Robert Charles Wilson, Six Metres of Pavement by @farzanadoctor and many more.
