@Charmi5000818@nov5000818@MHR5000818 I agree with you. I too observed some consumers with bipolar personality disorder would tend to be more elevated at twilight as opposed to mornings and they would become sad and gloomy at night hours.
@upeksha5000818 @mamatha5000818@Maddie5000818@MHR5000818 I also observed in one of the cases where the spouse was reluctant to accept the diagnosis of the consumer. It has come to a point where may be separation may take place; adding to emotional stress and complicating their recovery.
@Ghania_5000818@MHR5000818 (2/2) This was their mechanism of coping up with the issue. It also indeed helped me understand the same as well. This was an eye-opener for me. I also then thought it is important to be happy and not worry all the time. @MHR5000818
@Ghania_5000818 Your post reminded me of a consumer telling me that they used to worry a lot about things being in place a bit of OCD. They in turn decided to take a step back relax and say to themselves it is OK not to be able to do everything (1/2) @MHR5000818
@Ramya5000818@Manasa5000818@Lozmeow5000818@MHR5000818 (2/2) It is also interesting how during the conversation they can reason their issues and tell you how they are tackling them or intend to tackle them as they embrace the journey of recovery post discharge. @MHR5000818
It was challenging to contain my emotion in the situation and at the same time calm them down. I was glad when they said that I have been wonderful listener and that my support helped them @MHR5000818
In a conversation the consumer opened up to what their struggle has been lately and how that has affected them. They started to cry talking about the issues and I pacified them. I was so moved by it myself (1/2) @MHR5000818
It was interesting to learn from a doctor that at times some consumers Like to be told what to do. That they are old school kinds and will comply to it. The doctor said it will be helpful to develop an activity planner for them & observe progress @MHR5000818
@Bec5000818@MHR5000818 I agree with you on this. I have come across so many consumers who have same diagnosis but present differently due to ongoing issues either in their personal life or due to memories from the past. Therefore, its important to ask the right questions for sure.
It was amazing to see how consumers connect with one another on the ward. A client brought a lot of joy on the ward when they decided to surprise another client with a surprise birthday cake. @MHR5000818
A client stated attending a group session called self compassion. They stated how the session brought back memories that were suppressed for long. They also stated that never realised it and that they are glad that it is out of their system now @MHR5000818
@mamatha5000818@MHR5000818 What happens if after being educated; the client decides not to have it? Does the doctor then increase their medication dose?
Learnt about the importance of good dietary intake and its impact on mood & vice versa. The dietician highlighted that the current tool used for screening needs to be customised for a mental health setting including medication and its effect @MHR5000818
An important learning on the ward for all of us to remember. It is important for us to detach and step back from the situation at work in order to take care of our own mental health. @MHR5000818
I got an opportunity to administer a depot injection as requested by the consumer. This emphasised the importance of building a rapport with the client. @MHR5000818
