Had a client who was over-involved with looking after another elderly client e.g. feeding her and assisting with ADLs when the elder client can do it herself, trying to take her walker away from her 'as she can walk fine without it' @MHR5000818 (1/2)

Always important to do risk assessments with your clients, especially on admission. Check every bag they have and always ask about if they have phone or computer chargers, never know what they might use to cause harm

@Jessica5000818 @MHR5000818 Visitng clients at home eliminates the chance of distractions from other patients or any other distractions that could happen at a hospital. Clients might also be more comfortable at home as it is a familiar environment.

Patient came up to me at the end of my shift and said she was grateful that I had a chat with her today and she felt better after talking to me. Feeling pleased with myself I guess my listening skills have improved! @MHR5000818

Was buddied up with a social worker who spoke about the importance of self-care and debriefing if you are faced with something that is confronting or makes you feel uncomfortable. You're there to support someone but if you have to support yourself too :) @MHR5000818

@Suze_5000818 @nilmini_5000818 @MHR5000818 I've found nurses will do a genogram upon a consumer's admission and they ask up to 3 generations to find out if the consumer has family members who may have a history of suicide or depression

@Jenny5000818 @Aaliya5000818 @MHR5000818 As a student nurse, sometimes it feels as if the consumer knows you don't have as much to do as a nurse so they try and chat to you for longer. Boundaries are much harder to set when you're thinking about them
