Brilliant week at @CUBoulder with @LauraEllenDee working on response diversity, eating brussel sprouts and elk hotdogs, seeing a bear, a moose, and a tonne of prairie dogs, and going to my first baseball game! Thanks Laura & everyone for making my trip productive and memorable 🦬
Such an inspiring month hosting a @OIST_TSVP Thematic Program on response diversity with @OwenPetchey. Great people, engaging discussions, and exciting projects starting to emerge from our workshop this week. Thanks, everyone, for coming to Okinawa! 🌟

Lots of great work asks how global connectivity shapes risk. We argue for more of the reverse through 2 simple points:
As climate change progresses, we struggle to manage for historical baselines. Decisions to direct or resist change have trade-offs. The Resist-Accept-Direct framework can help if it transparently balances trade-offs through an equitable process. New paper led by @kjohannetsiegel!
We are seeking graduate students at the Dynamic Carbon and Ecosystems (DYCE) lab at the University of Utah for Fall 2024! We use remote sensing to study wildfire, vegetation, and carbon in terrestrial ecosystems. Learn more: https://t.co/ZYiXlwMgC8
Students from six out of seven @PFTCourses made it to the #ESA2023#PFTC alumni meetup (plus instructors from all courses). It was fabulous to geek out about plant traits and catch up with everyone!
At 2PM today I’m presenting my work at #ESA2023 on AM fungi, PNW grasslands, and nitrogen transfer in B115. Come by to the Aboveground-Belowgrounds Interaction 2 session to learn more!
Hi #ESA2023! Come by Room D138 tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 (COS 37 / "Food Webs 2") if you want to hear about predicting missing interactions in food webs using species traits🐟👍 and network structure 🕸️👍
Our students are the best. Airy Peralta and Jared Collins are recipients of the first ever INSTAAR Graduate Community Awards for their contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion here at INSTAAR and in our communities. See what they've been up to: https://t.co/5dJ3q0BWfu 🧡
Wonderful thread by @jebyrnes on our new paper out today with @pauljferraro@NutNetGlobal@ChrisSeveren@AkiraSMori @sashajwright and many others! An interdisciplinary quant approach, massive collaboration , and innovative global dataset bring new insights.
