Very excited about that one. Spending time instrumenting this data and exposing it through whatever observability tool the team was using was always a good chunk of my time setting up a new .NET project. This look ace.
.NET 8 is going to be a bombshell of a release 🔥. There are a TON of improvements but one of the things I'm most excited about is better out of the box metrics for our http and networking stack. We're also looing to ship grafana default dashboards #dotnet
Your infatuation with Big Tech is killing your startup's chance of success.
In the past ten years, I've helped manage & code hundreds of projects. Advised a dozen startups.
Silicon Valley companies may lead you to pick the wrong tech stack.
Here are 4 ways to choose right:
A brilliant talk by OpenAI co-founder @karpathy on the state of LLMs. Highly recommended for product engineers who want a high level overview of how to use them in a product. https://t.co/7OL2CLhMtZ
There's a new official @OpenAI ChatGPT prompt engineering course which is genuinely excellent... except in its coverage of prompt injection, which suggests a solution (delimiters) that demonstrably does not work

Researchers just found that gas stoves are responsible for 12.7% of childhood asthma cases.
Recently I read dozens of studies about gas stoves and indoor air quality.
I also installed monitors in our home and ran my own tests.
Here's what I learned.

Supervised machine learning models are deployed everywhere.
It's an open secret that all models have a huge problem:
Performative prediction - when predictions change future outcomes.
How to spot and handle this problem: A thread 🧵
@GergelyOrosz Seen this before in contracts from companies that employ mainly factory workers (where lay offs may be the norm). The contact was a boiler-plate factory worker contract with “software dev” slapped on top. Look for the clause allowing body searches before leaving the premises.
