Within a single week, several Baloch youth have been subjected to enforced disappearance, marking a sharp escalation in the crackdown on Baloch students and educated youth. Among the latest cases is Fazal Baloch, a central leader of the Baloch Students Front, who was forcibly disappeared after security personnel entered his residence in Hub Chowki, violated the sanctity of his home and took him into custody without any legal procedure. Other recent cases include Shahab Baloch, a medical student who returned from Azerbaijan for his summer break and Asif Baloch from Khuzdar, who was forcibly disappeared from Quetta alongside Salman Baloch, Nabeel and Zubair Baloch. The growing number of such cases points to an intensifying campaign against Baloch youth.
The systematic targeting of Baloch students and graduates is described by advocates as a colonial tactic aimed at dismantling Baloch political consciousness, suppressing dissent and depriving the nation of its educated generation. Families who sacrifice everything to educate their children are instead confronted with enforced disappearances, prolonged incommunicado detention and uncertainty about the fate of their loved ones.
We urge the @UN, the @WGEID, the @UNHumanRights, @amnesty, @hrw, @FrontLineHRD, and all international human rights organizations to take urgent action, press for the immediate disclosure of the whereabouts of all disappeared Baloch, ensure their safe release and hold Pakistan accountable under its international human rights obligations.

He was forcibly taken by Pakistani forces on 13 July 2026 at around 5:00 a.m. from Iman City, Samungli Road, Quetta, along with Asif Baloch, Nabeel, and Salman Baloch. His whereabouts remain unknown.
Paank urges the authorities to immediately disclose Zubair Ismail's fate and whereabouts, ensure his safety, and either release him immediately or present him before a competent civilian court in accordance with due process. An independent investigation must be conducted, and those responsible for any unlawful acts must be held accountable.

The European Commission’s latest GSP Plus assessment presents serious concerns regarding Pakistan’s human rights record. The report identifies persistent forced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention, restrictions on freedom of expression, shrinking civic space, and intimidation of journalists and human rights defenders. It further states that impunity for human rights violations remains a matter of major concern, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The assessment also highlights the continued rise in cases of forced disappearances and questions the effectiveness of existing accountability mechanisms. It raises concerns over arbitrary detention under counterterrorism legislation, the lack of effective investigations and prosecutions, and the misuse of laws that undermine freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and the legitimate work of journalists, lawyers, students, and human rights defenders.
Pakistan’s preferential access to the European Union market under the GSP Plus framework is linked to the effective implementation of 27 international conventions on human rights, labour rights, environmental protection, and good governance. Compliance with these obligations requires measurable progress in protecting fundamental freedoms, ending forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, ensuring accountability, and upholding the rule of law in accordance with international standards.

BNM Delegation Meets Members of the European Parliament, Calls for Revocation of Pakistan’s GSP+ Status
A delegation of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), led by Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch, visited the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, where it held meetings with several Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). During these meetings, the delegation engaged in detailed discussions on Pakistan’s obligations under the European Union’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) and its implementation.
The delegation expressed serious concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan, highlighting enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, collective punishment, and restrictions on fundamental freedoms. It stated that these grave violations are in direct conflict with the international human rights treaties whose implementation is a core condition for Pakistan’s continued eligibility under the GSP+ scheme.
The delegation urged the European Union to conduct a comprehensive and impartial review of Pakistan’s compliance with its GSP+ commitments and to revoke Pakistan’s GSP+ status in light of the ongoing human rights abuses.
During the visit, the delegation met with MEPs Bert-Jan Ruissen, Paolo Borchia, Matej Tonin, and Özlem Demirel. It also held meetings with Ann Buwalda, Executive Director of Jubilee Campaign, and Hulda Fahmi, Communications Associate.
