New Years fireworks in Baku, Azerbaijan. I was practicing some night time photographs from one of the windows on the @Space_Station at the end of the work day on New Years Eve. I had just finished passing over my targets when I noticed something funny – the city below me was twinkling! I quickly took a video, and realized that as we were orbiting further east, we had orbited into 2026, and I was actually seeing the New Years fireworks over Baku, Azerbaijan! Nikon Z9/400mm lens.

They then used electronic warfare jamming against its GPS while flying over the Caspian Sea

Why would any internatl. airline fly over Russia after this?

The Azerbaijani pilots lost all hydraulics and tried to steer with engine thrust only after having been hit by a Russian missile and forced to cross the Caspian Sea after being denied emergency landing in Russia.

They saved 29 lives while losing their own.

Absolute heroes.

@charliesangelaz @karabakhmemes @OrucBayramov11 @DrHughMore Anyway it’s never a mandatory thing to speak Russian, you choose to learn it or not(equally as English, German etc) Anyway it has many advantages to learn any language rather than disadvantages like “I’m not a vassal, so I won’t learn a language of a country which colonized mine”
