Anas b. Mālik narrated that there were two brothers during the time of the Prophet ﷺ.
One of them would regularly come to the Prophet ﷺ (to seek knowledge), while the other worked to earn a living. The working brother complained to the Prophet ﷺ about his brother, so the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Perhaps it is because of him that you are provided for”

Loving Allāh Above All Else
Allāh, The Most High, says:
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِ الله أَندَادًا يُحِبُّونَهُمْ كَحُبِّ الله وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَشَدُّ حُبًّا لله
"And of mankind are some who take others besides Allāh as rivals to Him. They love them as they love Allāh. But those who believe love Allāh even more."
[Qur'ān: Al-Baqarah, verse no.165]
Malik Bin Dinar, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:
Ever since I came to know people, I have neither rejoiced due to their praise nor hate their dispraise, for indeed, their praise is excessive and their dispraise is excessive.

The Stages of the Collapse of Nations:
al-Shaʿbī said:
"People live together by religion for a long time, until religion departs.
Then they live together by personal integrity for a long time, until that departs.
Then they live together by shyness and modesty for a long time, until modesty depart.
Then they lived together by hope and fear.
And I think that after this there will come something more severe than all of it."

Judgements Regarding Oppositions to the Sunnah Are For Upright, Trustworthy Scholars
Quote: “In every matter, the Salafi methdology is based upon the likes of Allāh’s saying 'Say: ‘Bring forth your evidence, if indeed you are truthful.’'”

If Allāh dislikes a person…
Ibn al-Jawzi says:
If Allāh dislikes a person, He leaves him constantly stumbling and confused in every situation. He does not grant him the aspiration to seek lofty goals, instead he is occupied with vile matters instead of virtuous. And if he asks, ‘Why have I been singled out for this?!’ the reply comes…
A reply that cannot be contested:
‘It is because of what your own hands have earned.’ (Sūrah al-Shūrah, 30)

When a Scholar Makes an Error, the Whole World Makes an Error!
Sh Badī-ud-dīn writes in the Muqaddimah of his Tafsīr after explaining that requests were made of him to author a tafsīr:
"So I began to ponder over the affair, and consider what I had to offer and the reality of the task at hand. If they had entrusted me to move a towering mountain, it would have been easier for me. I took a step forward and back again.
Another consideration: man is prone to making mistakes and forgetting, and I feared that I would make a mistake or an error, for when a scholar makes an error, the whole world makes an error, to the point that I intended to excuse myself."
We cannot fathom the weight on a scholar's shoulders. This great imām, with a level of knowledge acknowledged by the likes of Al-Albāni, Muqbil, Rabī, would not start writing his Tafsīr because he feared making mistakes.
Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Tayymiyyah al-Harrānī (d. 768 AH):
If the common people knew that missing a prayer is like missing the month of Ramadan, by the consensus of the Muslims, they would strive to perform it on time.
