The World Cup kicks off in Canada on June 12, and over a million visitors are expected to stream into the country as Toronto and Vancouver welcome fans for the chance to watch their teams play on the world’s biggest stage.
No money for cooling kits, lifeguards, suicide prevention fencing, arts funding, libraries, climate retrofit grants, street festivals… but we can afford this
Hours have been extended at three downtown indoor spaces for people experiencing homelessness.
If we can do this for the World Cup, we should be able to do it all the time.

Yesterday, ABC voted to keep Vancouver moving.
While the non-ABC parties on Council wanted to lower speed limits on major arterial roads to 30 km/h and 40 km/h, ABC chose to stand with commuters and residents.
Speed limits must be driven by common sense, not ideology. Let's keep Vancouver moving forward.
According to the @bccla, a @VancouverPD School Liaison Officer pointed a gun at an employee, and cuffed and searched them for putting their bike away. And there's worse. But @VSB39 chair @victoriajungvan thinks they're great. Appalling.
We said growth was coming. The Board didn't listen. The VSB closed Carleton anyway. One month later, thousands of new homes were planned, and our school is closed. I led the fight for Carleton and now seek to be elected as Trustee with COPE. Let's make some change in October!
@victoriajungvan Police are not youth workers. The Safe and Caring Schools team was prevention. Nine workers in that team were laid off. Families are asking what district staff is left to handle critical incident support.
Beautiful weather today! Every time I look out at Bruce Elementary’s field and see it full of people, it makes me smile.
Our community spent four years fighting to protect this space from being sold for development and we finally won in October 2025.
It’s been an honour to stand alongside other school communities helping to represent them, too.
Huge thank you to COPE for supporting this cause. Please sign up with COPE and help us continue protecting public land !

Today we stood with children, parents, and providers from all over BC at the Vancouver Art Gallery for disability supports for children. ❤️ Huge shout out to Monarch House! The energy and mutual support was incredible.
The @VSB39 squandered MILLIONS that should have been spent on students by so badly handling this case. There was a much better approach, which they chose to ignore. Heads should roll. Parents should be outraged. I am. #vanpoli https://t.co/YFo3BsTHbK
