Imagine the most obvious hole through the centre was filled in. It still has an extra hole because a loop is formed around that central beam.

@LONMathsJam @MathsJam Ah OK. Yeah we debated just how creative we were allowed to be. The trig answer is perfect, but ceiling etc make it too easy, eg 6 + 6 - 1 - floor(sqrt(sqrt(7)))
