Women all across America would settle in a heartbeat if we spent our cultural energy shaming and chiding men into being active participants in their relationships. Imagine the world we would have if we raised boys with the message of “it doesn’t matter if she’s mid, it’s still your job as a husband to remember her birthday and know what school your kids go to” and “no one wants a man who can’t put his clothes in the hamper”
Misogynists are crying about birthrates. Complaining that women value their own lives, goals, & ambitions as lawmakers in the US make being pregnant even more dangerous with abortion bans.
But let's not forget the US also has sky rocketing cost of childcare, no legally required maternity leave, not to mention the out of pocket cost just to give birth.
Women aren't to blame for plummeting birthrates, misogynists thinking women should always "take one for the team" are. Women do not owe misogynists or society babies.
academia attracts so many brilliant yet deeply wounded people. i wish we as a profession didn't enable & encourage their toxic behavior. theory can't heal, nor external validation. i hate how the study of so much i find beautiful is done by people who hurt others so much.
@LaDiovanna sorry but parents love to say “I can’t wait to have boys, boys are easy, it’s girl you have to worry about” then do zero parenting of their boys and look what happens
Billionaires don't wake up at 5am. Bus drivers, teachers, nurses, service workers, etc wake up at 5am. Billionaires wake up whenever they want because their wealth doesn't come from their own labor. It comes from the labor of people who will never be billionaires.
In 2023 I wanna find colleagues in academia who are healthy people. people who prioritize fun, joy, rest, pleasure, passion, peace & love. And this is no shade to the academics who spend every waking hour being productive. That’s just not the life I want. There’s another way.
Saying it’s a “calling” implies some sort of spiritual exemption to being paid fairly, treated equitably, and having our labor protected in the workplace.
Introverts don't lack social skills, they're tired of your drama. Your hollowness. Your words. Your need for attention. And your compliance to everything society defines "normal". They're not shy, they're observing. And trust me, they're just not interested. Leave them alone.
Crazy how peaceful life becomes when you realize it's not your responsibility to regulate other people's emotions, manage their insecurities, pacify their inner wars, heal their wounds, do their inner work, and be the version of you in their minds.
Cost for one vial of insulin:
🇦🇺: $6.94
🇬🇧: $7.52
🇫🇷: $9.08
🇩🇪: $11
🇨🇦: $12
🇯🇵: $14.40
🇺🇸: $98.70
No one should be forced to take out their wallets for insulin – a life-saving drug that was invented nearly 100 years ago. It's time to end the greed of the pharmaceutical industry.
I hope people learn that con men and lucky early adapters who begin with a head start are the most successful people under capitalism. Merit, hard work, intelligence, what we've been told are most important things are secondary to circumstance and grift.
We are in a dangerous cycle my friends, instability is rocket fuel to capitalism. It’s no surprise we’re making billionaires at record pace while our social supports crumble. Yet we see these sociopaths as success stories and heros. We give them our money and worse, our votes.
This shows how men and women spend their days, on average, before a baby is born and in the 12 years afterwards.
Pretty compelling snapshot of why so many mums cannot compete with dads on financial security.

Instead, the landlord was allowed to present themselves as caring and responsive. A twitter user, presumably using a powerful new tool called google, pointed out immediately that Ohio law had required the corporate landlord to pay for CO detectors: https://t.co/hOkHX6SWXy
