HENGLEP, June 17, 2026 โ Letzamang Haokip, MLA of 57-Henglep (ST) Assembly Constituency, has strongly condemned the alleged killing of Lenminsang, son of Lenkhogin Haokip, by joint security forces at North Songkong village, Henglep Sub-Division.
The MLA โstrongly and unequivocally condemn the shocking killingโ of Lenminsang. He called it โdeeply disturbing and unacceptable that a civilian has lost his life at the hands of those entrusted.... adding that such incidents โstrike at the very foundation of public trust.โ
Citing eyewitness allegations, Haokip said that โafter he was shot, his clothes were removed and his lifeless body was taken away by the joint security forces.โ The statement further alleged that โattempts were made to portray the incident as fake encounterโ after death. The MLA said if these allegations are found to be true, it would constitute โa grave abuse of authority and a serious violation of the rule of law.โ
Haokip also raised concern over the non-return of the body, stating โThe continued failure to return and retrieve the mortal remains... has only compounded the pain and anguish of the bereaved family and the public. Every family has the right to perform the last rites of their loved one with dignity and respect.โ
The MLA demanded:
1. Immediate recovery and handover of mortal remains to the family
2. A thorough judicial and independent inquiry into the incident
3. Stringent action against all those found responsible
He added that โAny attempt to conceal facts, tamper with evidence, or misrepresent the circumstances surrounding the death must be investigated and dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.โ
Letzamang Haokip extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and said he โstand firmly with them in their pursuit of truth and justice.โ

KSO Churachandpur Alleges Extrajudicial Killing of Civilian in Churachandpur, Demands Probe
CHURACHANDPUR, June 17, 2026 โ The Kuki Studentsโ Organisation, KSO Churachandpur, has strongly condemned the alleged killing of Mr. Lenminsang of Kolchung Village during a security forces operation at North Songkong Village on June 16, 2026.
In a press release dated June 17, Ref No. 03/KSO-CCP/PR/2025-21, KSO Churachandpur said eyewitness accounts describe Mr. Lenminsang as an โunarmed civilian who was at his residence due to medical reasons and had no involvement in any armed activity.โ The organisation alleged that during the operation, which reportedly involved drone bombing and mortar attacks, he came out of his house in fear and was โpursued and shot at close range by security personnel despite posing no threat.โ
KSO raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the death, including โthe removal of his body from the siteโ, and called it a possible case of โfake encounter and extrajudicial killingโ. The student body said such an act would constitute a โgrave violation of fundamental rights, human dignity, and the rule of law.โ
Demands
KSO Churachandpur has demanded:
1. An immediate FIR
2. An independent, judicially monitored investigation
3. Preservation of all evidence
4. Prosecution of all individuals found responsible
The organisation stated that โthe State has a constitutional obligation to protect the lives of citizens and ensure accountability when allegations of unlawful killings ariseโ and that โjustice for Mr. Lenminsang is not only a demand of his family and community but a test of the rule of law itself.โ
KSO Churachandpur called upon the Government and concerned authorities to ensure a transparent investigation, adding that โsecurity operations cannot be a license to violate civilian lives and fundamental rights.โ

Staged encounter by security forces raises serious concerns, with the victim allegedly stripped & dressed in different clothing to falsely portray him as a militant. The Kuki community will not tolerate such abuse of authority, manipulation of evidence, and gross misuse of power.
Manipur: Under the guise of an
โoperationโ,armed forces ransacked homes in Leilon Vaiphei as three boys remain critically injured.
Why were punitive raids made in Leilon Vaiphei ?
This is abuse of authority, not security.

Manipur : PRESS CONDEMNATION
Henglep, The 16th June, 2026
The Joint Kuki CSOs Henglep, strongly condemns the killing of Mr. Lenminsang Haokip of Songkong Village during a security forces operation carried out on 16 June 2026.
According to eyewitness accounts, security forces subjected Songkong Village to drone and mortar bombardment. On that fateful day, Mr. Lenminsang remained at home due to health-related reasons and did not accompany other villagers to their jhum fields. When a drone strike occurred near the village, he reportedly ran out of his house in search of safety. Eyewitnesses allege that security personnel pursued him and subsequently shot him dead.
Following the incident, the security forces reportedly took away his body, which, at the time of issuing this statement, has not been returned to his family. During a search conducted by family members and villagers, blood-stained clothes and footwears belonging to Mr. Lenminsang were recovered near his residence. His shirt reportedly bore two holes believed to be consistent with gunshot wounds.
The removal of his body and clothing raises serious concerns about a staged-encounter (fake encounter) attempting to portray an innocent civilian as a militant. Such actions constitute a grave abuse of power and a blatant violation of human rights and the rule of law.
We condemn in the strongest possible terms the killing of an innocent villager and any attempt to falsely brand him as a militant. We call upon the security officers involved to come clean and take full responsibility for the actions of their subordinates. Failure to do so will compel Henglep Kuki Civil Societies together with the people of Henglep and Songkong, to pursue the matter before the highest competent authorities to ensure that justice is served and those responsible are held accountable.

@seimi339@doungel07 Manipur: Security forces diverted from Konsakhul where a shooting injured kids, and instead carried out punitive searches in Leillon Vaiphei. Who ordered this? @HMOIndia@PMOIndia@SpearCorps
This morning, Mr. Lenminsang of Kolchung village who was present at Songkong Village, Henglep Subdivision, Manipur was reportedly
k!lled by security forces while going to a regular duty owing to the failure of the same SF to protect us. Why this biased? @adgpi@AmitShah
Today, Kharam Vaiphei village was reduced to ashes while innocent Kuki civilians fled for their lives under gunfire and terror. The KukiCommunity strongly condemns the brutal burning of our ancestral village allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM, ZUF Kamson group, Arambai Tenggol, and Myanmar-based Meitei militants while Central Forces and Manipur Police allegedly failed to protect innocent civilians on the ground.
Families were forced to run from their own homes as flames consumed houses, properties, and ancestral land built through generations. Women, children, and elderly villagers were left helpless while armed groups allegedly moved openly and fearlessly during the attack. The silence and failure to stop such violence have deeply angered the KukiCommunity.
Serious allegations have also been raised against the SP of Kangpokpi district for allegedly providing protection or allowing armed groups linked to NSCN-IM, ZUF Kamson group, and Arambai Tenggol to operate freely during the burning of Kharam Vaiphei village. If these allegations are true, it represents a complete betrayal of constitutional duty and raises disturbing questions about how innocent citizens are expected to trust the very institutions meant to protect them.
The KukiCommunity wants the entire nation and international community to know that Kuki ancestral villages are being attacked, civilians displaced, homes burnt, and innocent people terrorized while those responsible continue to operate without fear. This is not peace. This is not justice. This is the destruction of innocent lives under the shadow of political silence and selective action.
We demand immediate and strict action against NSCN-IM, ZUF Kamson group, Arambai Tenggol, Myanmar-based Meitei militants, and every individual involved in the burning of Kharam Vaiphei village. We also demand an independent investigation into the role of officials accused of failing to stop or prevent the attack. The Government of India must immediately intervene before more innocent lives and villages are destroyed. Enough of the suffering. Enough of the silence. Enough of watching Kuki villages burn while the world looks away.

Kharam Vaiphei, a #Kuki-Zo village, was reportedly attacked and set on fire today by the #ZUF Kamson faction, allegedly linked to the #NSCN-IM. The area had remained relatively peaceful until security forces dismantled bunkers in the vicinity.
Residents are deeply disturbed that, shortly after the bunkers were removed, homes were allegedly burned in the presence of security personnel. This has sparked serious questions about how such an incident could unfold despite the deployment of armed forces.
The affected community deserves clarity, accountability, and justice. An independent and transparent investigation is crucial to determine the facts and address the concerns of the people. @NIA_India@YKhemchandSingh@UNHumanRights@KonthoujamG@LokBhavManipur@official_dgar@crpfindia@Spearcorps@adgpi@rashtrapatibhvn@SCJudgments
