Joseph Smith was the Lord’s instrument in the Restoration in this dispensation. But what did the Lord restore through him?

Here is a very brief list of the massive additions the Lord inspired the Prophet Joseph to make to the fullness of Christian doctrine:

1.The nature of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

2.The relative functions of these three members of the Godhead and Their relationship to mortal beings.

3.The nature of the Fall of man.

4.The purpose of mortal life in furtherance of the Father’s plan for His children to attain their eternal destiny.

5.The role of the Atonement of Jesus Christ in assuring immortality and providing the opportunity for eternal life.

6.The role of earthly and eternal marriage in the Father’s plan.

7.The role of priesthood and ordinances in the Father’s plan.

8.The role of proxy ordinances and temples in the Father’s plan.

9.The knowledge that God desires to save all of His children and that every person who has lived upon this earth—whether then knowing of Jesus Christ or not—is capable of attaining the highest glory hereafter.

10.The relationship of the threefold sources of truth about man and the universe: science, scriptures, and continuing revelation.

Anyone who studies even a small list of the massive additions the Lord inspired the Prophet Joseph to make to the fullness of Christian doctrine must acknowledge that Joseph Smith was the prophetic source of an immense stream of bold and new and precious religious ideas.

A pristine jungle river-turned-baptismal-font and a crowded meetinghouse yard draped in makeshift tents set the scene for a landmark weekend in southeastern Papua New Guinea.

On June 14, 107 disciples of Jesus Christ stepped into the Bangoho River to be baptized; following those services, Elder Taniela B. Wakolo, a General Authority Seventy and member of the Pacific Area presidency, organized the Oro Papua New Guinea Stake — the fifth stake in the nation and the first in the remote province of Oro.

For the meetings on June 14 and 15, the Popondetta chapel could not hold the hundreds who gathered. Volunteers pitched rows of tents outside, while others tuned in from remote villages by internet for the meetings.

Elder Wakolo, assisted by Area Seventy Elder Jared V. Ormsby, taught that covenants anchor disciples despite life’s adversities, promising confidence and peace to all who build their lives on the foundation of God’s plan of salvation and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Consider how your life is different because of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

You and I can be sealed to our loved ones for all eternity! Think of the wonder of that! We can each be endowed with God’s power! We can each receive the gift and ministering of the Holy Ghost. We can have angels watch over us. Because of the Spirit of the Lord, we never need to feel alone.

During the dedication of the Syracuse Utah Temple today, I shared that because of our temple worship, we will be blessed with peace, even in our most turbulent times. We will feel closer to our Heavenly Father and to our Savior, Jesus Christ. We will experience greater spiritual confidence.

As we sincerely seek Jesus Christ, we will find Him in His holy house. We will feel His mercy. We will find answers to our most vexing questions. We will better comprehend the joy of His gospel.

I promise you that your time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can. Regular worship here will protect you and your family.

Two words are often attached to the sanctity of mortal birth: life and choice.

Life is a most precious part of our Father’s perfect plan and by His decree we cherish life and preserve life; and we choose the continuation of life once conceived.

We also treasure the gift of moral agency, helping to strengthen righteous choices approved by God that bring eternal happiness.

The diminishing love for unborn children worldwide is a grave concern. God cherishes life. It is His work and His glory to bring immortality and eternal life to His children.

Profoundly difficult and agonizing uncertainty can accompany the protection of life. When a woman and a man are in such a fragile time facing a crucial choice, our words, our hands, our hearts—spiritually, emotionally, and financially—can bless them to feel the Savior’s love.

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:35).

May we share our love even more abundantly with those who need us so desperately. This includes remembering the great mercy our Father in Heaven has for those who sincerely repent. Let us focus on the healing power of Jesus Christ and His Atonement, not a person’s past sins. #GeneralConference

Children really do love Jesus Christ, and that love can carry over into their other relationships in the playground of life. As a rule, even in their youngest years, children love so easily, forgive so readily, and laugh so delightfully, that even the coldest, hardest heart can melt.

Let us follow the Savior’s counsel: “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3–4). #GeneralConference

Our Heavenly Father’s Plan provides powerful divine helps to guide us through our mortal journeys. These include the Light or Spirit of Christ; commandments, ordinances, and covenants; manifestations of the Spirit; and the gift of the Holy Ghost, among others.

However, by far God’s strongest mortal help was His provision of a Savior, Jesus Christ, who would suffer to pay the price and provide forgiveness for repented sins.

That merciful and glorious Atonement explains why faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the first principle of the gospel. His Atonement “bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead” (Alma 42:23) and it “atone[s] for the sins of the world” (Alma 34:8), erasing all of our repented sins and giving our Savior power to succor us in our mortal infirmities. #GeneralConference #GreaterLove
