Coaching or mentoring?
Understand the distinction:
Both foster growth,
Yet in entirely different ways.
Sharing great insights from Timothy Timur Tiryaki, PhD:
A) Coaching cultivates independence.
It focuses on:
Encouraging reflection,
Posing insightful questions,
Allowing people to discover their own answers.
It sparks ownership and critical thinking.
B) Mentoring shares experience.
It emphasizes:
Stories,
Lessons learned,
Guiding others along paths you’ve already traveled.
What ties them together?
Empathy. Listening. Trust. Purpose.
But what truly matters:
In a complex world, guidance alone isn’t enough.
We need strategic thinkers and leaders.
That means helping people:
Not just grow, but lead with clarity and impact.
How to lead strategically:
1. Zoom out first
See the big picture before diving into the details.
2. Challenge assumptions
Don’t take things at face value. Ask why.
3. Prioritize leverage
Focus on what drives the greatest change, not just immediate wins.
4. Communicate clarity
Strategy is meaningless if people don’t understand it. Explain it simply.
5. Think in moves
Strategy is dynamic. Always plan 2–3 steps ahead.
The future needs leaders who:
Can coach, mentor, and think strategically.
That’s where true transformation happens.
P.S. Are you growing in the right way?

A clown has fans, a leader has followers, an achiever has enemies, whilst friendship is only between equals. I prefer leading and achieving, the hardest part of life. Fans and friends are easy to deal with.
Don’t let the pressure talk you out of what God put in your heart. Sure, you’re going to feel overwhelmed, intimidated, outnumbered. But you’re right where you’re supposed to be. You’re a giant killer, a history maker, a mighty hero.
