Hi, I’m Sebastian 👋 — here’s my story in one post (and why most people can’t lose weight despite dieting) ⬇️
I'm a physician with 5 years hospital experience 🏥.
For 10+ years I struggled with bloating, constipation & constant cravings.
Back in medical school, and on the advice of a doctor, I repeatedly turned to antifungal medications 💊 for what was thought to be an overgrowth in my gut - hoping to finally get my symptoms under control.
But things only got worse.
It took me years to see the bigger picture and identify the real root cause 🌱 - an experience that continues to shape my medical practice today.
Through my own journey, I learned the importance of treating the core problem, not just the symptoms - and I deepened this knowledge step by step through further training and research.
A new passion was born ❤️.
Over time, in my clinical work, it became clearer and clearer:
one of the major root causes behind chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or obesity is elevated blood sugar 📈.
Many people struggling with obesity fight bravely with diets - but their bodies remain blocked. The reason: hidden insulin resistance🚦.
That’s exactly where my focus lies.
🎯 With my knowledge, I want to help you
✨ regain your energy
✨ control cravings 🍩
✨ reach your healthy weight
I’m looking forward to connecting with you 🤝—and I hope you’ll find inspiration here that truly moves your health forward.
Best,
Sebastian
@dr_ericberg The easiest way to build healthy habits?
Make them visible.
When my patients track blood sugar for 2 weeks, they see how each meal affects them.
Less motivation is needed then, the feedback does the work!
Highly recommend you try one your own. It's eye opening.
@DamonM31436277@fmfclips Really sorry to hear that, Damon.
Maybe try and do a little workout with resistant bands in the bed every day? Other than that: high protein diet and watch out for an optimal vitamin D value.
Wishing your dad and your family all the best. Best wishes from Germany, Sebastian.
@dr_ericberg Exactly. The data couldn’t be clearer imo!
When insulin resistance is reversed, patients feel it everywhere:
mood, sleep, cravings, even joint pain.
And the best part: it happens without meds.
Appreciate your work, colleague Berg.
@hormonedietdoc so true, good post. Here's my approach if I get cravings:
-Drink a big glass of water with 15 drops of herbal bitters
- Wait 20 min - most cravings vanish.
-Didnt help? Grab a protein-rich savory snack.
- If nothing helps: eat dark chocolate (70%+).
I do - every day!
@dr_ericberg yeah and the problem is we don't have long term studies on the effects of it.
The biggest two contributors to microplastic in your diet?
Water + sea salt.
--> Fix:
- Buy reverse-osmosis filter
- use high-quality rock salt (e.g. Himalayan).
- throw away all plastic bottles!
@dr_ericberg Most people never enter fat metabolism anymore.
After years of studying and testing, this is my advice:
- Fast regularly (including intermittent fasting everyday, (except of women in their reproductive age, discuss with your doc)
- Eat low carb
Evolution built us for it.
@dr_ericberg Unfortunately it doesn’t matter if it’s organic milk from a local farm or store-bought.
Milk proteins (mainly casein) bind cocoa polyphenols, cutting their absorption by roughly 40–50%.
@dr_ericberg True! I eat 85% cacao chocolate everyday.
Watch out to not mix it with milk products when you eat it.
Why?
It blocks polyphenol (antioxidant) absorption in your gut from the chocolate!
@dr_ericberg MCT oil, collagen and olive oil, here's how:
--> Coffee: MCT oil + collagen: for brain fuel, satiety & joint support.
--> almost any meal: add olive oil - but choose wisely:
1. extra virgin
2. harvest date
3. single origin
4. dark glass
5. Avoid “pure” or “light” blends
@hormonedietdoc Yeah good point. If I may raise this question:
Is salmon still worth it?
Omega-3s vs. microplastics & heavy metals.
For me, the balance tipped.
I’ve cut out sea fish altogether - and I no longer advise it.
Well I'm not a Professor but I worked in two different hospitals over the last 5 years:
Prevention & nutrition are ignored.
The system pushes surgery.
Overweight --> new hip.
No one explains why you got arthritis or what to do next. It's horrible.
We all get to choose.
The thing that many people don't realize is that pills and surgery often only treat the symptoms and not the root cause of disease.
And you are hearing this from someone who has spent his entire career as a medical school professor.
Just sayin'

@robertlufkinmd Well I'm not a Professor but I can add as someone who worked in two different hospitals over the last 5 years:
