Winning Cures a Lot of Things
Today’s game was exactly what Vikings fans have been hoping to see all season long. We were all searching for that sense of balance on offense, a rhythm in the play-calling that would let J.J. McCarthy shine in the right moments. For the first time this year, we truly saw that.
The Vikings stuck with the run game, racking up 162 rushing yards while throwing for 151. J.J. McCarthy played a solid, composed game, making good decisions and executing exactly what was asked of him.
Yes, it was against the Washington Commanders’ defense, but it’s still an NFL defense. And what made the difference today was Kevin O’Connell’s commitment to running the ball consistently, which took a lot of pressure off McCarthy. It’s like we’ve handed J.J. the keys to a Lamborghini—just like we did when we signed Sam Darnold—and today he kept it on the track. He kept the offense moving, converted on third downs, and let the running game do its work.
In short, this was the balanced, confident performance we’ve been waiting for. And it’s proof that sometimes, winning really does cure a lot of things.
Iowa is now up to 31.3 ppg on offense and ranks #2 nationally in total defense behind Ohio State (234.9 ypg), #6 in scoring defense (13.1 ppg) and #1 in punt returns.

Bo Bassett confirms his final four on FRL.
He said he moved up his timeline because he has visited the programs he needed to and he is ready to go all in with that team.
Going an entire NFL season only losing games to two teams, still ending up as a wildcard, and still not even making it to the Divisional Round might be the peak Minnesota Vikings experience.
I truly don’t think they are ever going to top that.
