@nina_kobayashi_ @besavageee Hi! I agree with your statement. When it comes to HBCU’s, they do not receive enough resources compared to other universities. They should be entitled to receive resources especially for their academic needs. #ucr150@besavageee
HBCU’s are important institutions that do not receive enough resources, especially in athletic departments. The Excellence Beyond Athletics model is an example of a resource that should be implemented to help students. @besavageee#ucr150
@carlieramirezz@besavageee Hi! I also believe that the NCAA ultimately takes advantage of their student athletes for profit. While student athletes struggle to manage their academic and athletic life, the NCAA worries all about the money. #ucr150@besavageee
The NCAA should be responsible for creating a better system where student athletes can equally handle academics & athletics. It is sad to see students skip class, limit their options for majors, and struggle financially.

@Lesly_150 @besavageee Hi Lesly! Reading through the chapter I asked myself the same question. Why is it that the NCAA claims to support their athletes when they restrict them with decisions that affect their futures! It seems that they only care about revenue. #ucr150@besavageee
Because of the NCAA’s NLI program, allowing students to transfer is challenging which I believe is unfair. As student athletes, they should be allowed to make that decision without restrictions as it affects their futures.

@BSanchez065@besavageee Hi! It is shocking to know that concussions are not talked about enough in athletics as it is a very common injury. I think concussion trainings are also a good start to bringing awareness to concussions. #ucr150@besavageee
The NCAA claims to protect the safety of their athletes but with the lack of education regarding concussions they are not doing so. They should require coaches and athletes to participate in concussion education for their well being.

@duran_m22@besavageee I agree! Title IX was a great step towards gender equity.. but it should definitely be reformed to create more opportunities for women instead of blaming them for “taking away” mens sports. #ucr150@besavageee
Title IX marked a significant passage of gender equity. Women were now allowed in sports and opportunities. However, women are still discriminated against in some aspects which is why I believe Title IX should be reformed.

@Egarcia150@besavageee I agree!! Comparing this to the reading on Pacific Islanders, PIs are also not fully aware or explained on the scholarships they receive which puts them in situations where they are faced with educational challenges. #ucr150@besavageee
It is unfair that as PIs are most wanted in college football, they are treated poorly. Their recruiters mislead them regarding their scholarships and contracts, which is why they should transition to 4 year guaranteed scholarships. #ucr150@besavageee
@KaileyG048@besavageee I completely agree with you! Juggling school and their sport is already a lot of work. It is also unfair that some students don’t even get scholarships which I believe all student athletes should get no matter what! #ucr150@besavageee
It is evident that the NCAA controls college sports and is fully committed to the idea of amateurism. As it has been around for so long, I believe they focus more on making money than supporting their athletes.

@TeresaOro007 @besavageee I believe it is very important that organizations provide student athletes with medical assistance because they risk their health everyday! More organizations should provide help so that students always have access to medical attention. #ucr150@besavageee
Learning about the inequalities and injustices student athletes face in EDUC050, it is refreshing to look at the many organizations that have been created to advocate for student athletes. #ucr150@besavageee
The NCAA proves again that they do not care about their student athletes. They put them at risk for their own benefit. Not only is their physical health at risk but also their mental health for dealing with the stress. #ucr50

@G_emily10@val_orue I agree with you! Student athletes may usually have a plan on what they want to do but it does not mean that it will happen. I believe having more resources and support can help them explore more options. #ucr50
