💥Great news for safer walking & cycling in West London💥
@LBHF have confirmed backing for C34 from Wood Lane to Holland Park Roundabout, via Shepherds Bush Green 🚲🚶♀️
And we're working together on Cycleway 9 from Hammersmith Broadway to Olympia 💚

@LondonW12@willnorman Looks like another collision on Holland Park Roundabout today. When will this dangerous roundabout be fixed with safe cycle lanes?
@OpenChiswickW4@willnorman@StephenCowan@LBHF@RBKC I don’t think this can be right as I understand that @LBHF has been committed since 2021 to build this cycle lane with funding specifically earmarked for construction. It’s a naturally continuation of the King Street cycle lane and would bring much needed protection.
Westminster council announcing a huge plan for the West End - includes pedestrianising the bottom end of Regent Street, Coventry Street, and another arm of Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus rebuild plus cycle lanes up Regent Street, and quite a bit more https://t.co/4crsDyCdwD
Breaking ground on London’s newest Cycleway - C34 from Wood Lane to Shepherd’s Bush Green (and then planned to go across Holland Park Roundabout).
We’ve expanded London’s Cycleway network to over 400km & the no. of daily journeys has grown to over 1.3m 🚲🚲

A school in Hammersmith has had to take matters into its own hands to block a road outside the school gates after an elderly gentleman was knocked over by a reversing van in front of children this week.
Ravenscourt Av. The school has lobbied for a school street for years.
The City of London is experiencing the Copenhagen effect.
Reallocate road space away from motor vehicles (Bishopsgate, Bank, Lime St, numerous modal filters, one ways with cycle counter flows) and you get meaningful modal shift.
A wake up call for the rest of London
@OxoDog51N14W@OldLondonW14@RBKC@TfL Thanks - we’re not on twitter much these days but happy to have a friendly exchange like this ! It is indeed a little insane (with alas some real life consequences - Christina Kong was killed on a part of the route that was delayed because of @rbkc actions)
A weird thing happened after Hammersmith Bridge was closed to vehicles — the traffic count on the neighbouring bridges (Kew, Putney, Chiswick) actually FELL.
As a result, reopening the bridge to motor vehicles will never happen.
Meanwhile, rejoicing:
@CemKemahli@LBHF This kind of historic reference misses the mark and distracts from what we need in @RBKC : investment in efficient, safe, and active transport infrastructure
