- Carbs have oxidative priority over fat, thus higher intake lowers fat oxidation

- Higher fat intake increases fat needing to be oxidized

- Carbs rarely turn into fat- in excess, small amounts do via DNL

- Most stored fat is from dietary fat

- Neither carbs or fat are "bad"

Studies (back to 1940s) examined self-selected nutrients in rats with diabetes:
