Signý watched Dem sit, caring more for Wulf than his drink and pressing a kiss to the small child's head.

A man who had bought extraordinarily expensive horses as a Rohirric dowry, who gave her gold, rubies, and who cared deeply for their son.

She knew then that she loved him.

Dem thought about the statement for a minute, sucking his teeth in contemplation. Then he took Wulf from her arms, picked up a tankard of ale, and went to find a seat where he was less likely to drop either one.

Signý half danced, half bounced her way over to Dem as he still held Wulf in her arms.

"You can have ONE drink," she said lowly to him, "Then you can take Wulf from me. He's getting too heavy."

Dem looked at the barrels of ale and the bottles of wine readily available sporadically dotted between platters of food. But then catching sight of Brom he turned, and watched Brom's gaze as he very slowly, and very deliberately, shook his head in warning.

Signý squinted. She couldn't exactly be rude to a wedding guest who had gifted her a fine weapon. Nor did she want Dem or Brom to enter into a fight. But she did wonder if she could bribe her little sister to kick him in the shins.

"Good, or I'd be having a few words with him if he didn't. And if I calculated right, I think the baby will be with us by mid October."

"Definitely not until after the baby is born, and no, I shall saddle a horse and follow him if I have to! He'll have no choice but to take me with him."

"Stay at the celebration long enough to enjoy all the merrymaking and you'll soon see how people drink enough to become ill," Signý grinned, watching Brom as he drank his fourth pint of ale.

[He shook his head.] I don't drink ale... I drank a glass of wine once. But there wasn't any sickness. Why would somebody drink to become ill?

"Yes, please! I'd love to see the places that Dem has been to! Rhûn, Khand, Harad... it all sound so different from Rohan!"

Signý's eyes went wide with hope and curiosity. "If these spices are from the south, I wonder if I would be able to go also and see the lands outside of Rohan?"
