Simone de Beauvoir famously wrote:
“One is not born, but becomes, a woman.”
If she’d known what use Judith Butler & TRAs would later make of this, she might have decided to just spell it out, much less flamboyantly, as:
“A woman is only born female, but she becomes a woman.”
Women aren't 'reduced' by recognition of the fact that we're the sex whose bodies are organised to produce children. Only those who feel there's something lesser about the female reproductive system (or who haven't got one but wish they did) assert that it somehow diminishes us.
The NYT confirms Haaretz's report that Benjamin Netanyahu was secretly warned before Oct. 7, 2023 by the Emirati president that Hamas planned a major attack, per 2 sources
The warning was not shared with Israeli security chiefs, per 5 ex-officials

And there you have it …
… “trans rights” activist calls for the abolition of Labour Women’s Conference and replacing it with a mixed sex “Equality Conference”.
So much for “there’s no conflict between trans rights and women’s rights”.
Utter bullshit.
Today, the strength of feeling in the Labour Party about trans inclusion was made loud & clear.
In theory, the 650 CLPs could have sent 2 delegates each, to the Women's Conference, meaning in total 1300 delegates could have been present - in reality just 225 delegates were there.
Most CLPs clearly boycotted the conference, as did every major affiliated union, bar one.
Our inside team reports the conference was "flat, "desperate" and "sad."
To be clear, while all trans members of the Labour Party will be very grateful for the support shown today, we are also desperately sad it had to come to this.
One delegate said "why has there not been a vote on this, clearly with the odd exception, we want trans women in the room with us."
This begs the question: why is @UKLabour scared to talk about trans rights?
I have always backed the need for single sex spaces (subject to being proportionate to a legitimate aim), but how can it be legitimate not to allow trans women to be a delegate at a conference?
In the future, Labour needs to rename the Women's Conference an "Equality Conference" for ALL the equality strands (Women, LGBT+, BAME and Disabilities); then and only then can Labour reclaim the title of the "Party of Equality"

@labourunionsuk Women are oppressed and discriminated against as a sex, and have the right to gather, meet and organise as biological women, to further the interests of biological women.
That is a right that trade unionists should defend and support, not oppose or condemn.
@labourunionsuk As a trade union activist for 30 years, I find it appalling that trade unions have become dominated by an ideology that is prepared to deny women members their sex-based rights.
There is nothing “anti-trans” about standing up for women’s rights to same sex spaces and facilities.

@PsychoDogVRC@thefeminist111 Bullshit. ‘Trans Rights Activists’ oppose this ‘Third Space’ option, not those who defend women’s rights to single sex spaces.
@DalgetySusan@Cath_on_X@PaulKnaggs It’s high time that grass roots trade unionists, women and men, got together and organised to reclaim their unions from those promoting and imposing this lunacy.
We are many, they are few.
The TUC yesterday passed a motion that effectively commits the trade union movement to campaign for the gender self-ID. This by @PaulKnaggs is an essential read: "A trade union movement that cannot say the word 'women' while legislating over their rights has not found a diplomatic form of words. It has found a way to stop being honest with itself".

At next week's #TUC2026 in #Brighton is a motion from the TUC LGBT+ Conference, which raises important issues for the majority female membership of TUs & for lesbian & gay trade union members.
Here we present the motion, along with some questions that @The_TUC delegates can raise at their delegation meetings, local branches & regional/national assemblies.

In a BBC interview about Pride, a young woman explicitly says that, as a 14-year-old girl, she thought she was a lesbian but Pride made her realise that she was actually a straight boy.
The interviewer offers no pushback for what sounds suspiciously like conversion therapy.
“Grover remained defiant in her response to The Star Observer, stating that “Men who claim to be women are men. That is reality. No court decision will change that reality. They were men yesterday, they’re men today and they will be men tomorrow. I will remain a woman, something men who claim to be women will never be. That’s how reality works.”
It’s the Great North Run today
According to @Great_Run, only the 17 females in the women’s elite race deserve fair, male-free competition, complying with @BritAthletics rules
The other 27,000 women must accept any male is welcome to “self-identify into the female gender” 1/
I have immense respect for Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor.
Not only because they helped expose the machinery of violence behind militant Zionism, but because they were willing to look beyond tribe, identity, and inherited loyalties—and listen instead to conscience.
That, to me, is profoundly moral.
The prophetic instinct has always been to challenge the injustices of one’s own people, not merely condemn the wrongdoing of others. It is easy to see clearly when the perpetrator belongs to another tribe. The real test of conscience is whether we can recognize injustice when it is committed in our name, by our people, for a cause we were taught to defend.
To stand against your own tribe when your moral compass demands it is rare.
And while they may represent a small minority within Israel, they represent what I would like to think of as some of the highest Jewish values: justice, moral courage, compassion, and the willingness to stand against wrongdoing even when it comes from within one’s own community.
That is deeply noble.
The world’s highest court has already told Israel to return to Palestinians the remaining 22% of historic Palestine (Gaza, West Bank, east Jerusalem) that it illegally occupies since 1967.
And the political minions of the world behave as though intl law were theirs to dismiss!
Our FOIs to Police Scotland, published today in @Sunday_Post, show almost 100 sexual crimes at swimming pools and leisure centres — including rape, sexual assault and 51 voyeurism offences.
81 female victims. 57 male perpetrators. Zero offences attributed to male staff.
11 offences involved girls under 13. More girls under 13 were among the additional victims.
Every recorded offence was at a venue with mixed-sex, village-style shared changing. Not one was recorded at a centre with single-sex facilities.
Councils cannot keep calling these spaces “safe” while girls are being filmed, and sexually assaulted in them.
Local authorities must provide single-sex changing, designated family spaces, proper risk assessments, and stop treating women’s and girls’ safety as secondary.
Changing areas have to change.

Thank you @ladymcbeth2
This is 100% wrong. The first woman should be a woman! Makes my blood boil because men are not having to deal with this in their category. This IS sex discrimination
