@b_schomber@KSVesq The point, sweetie, is that it is a common verbal tic that people do all the time without realizing it, not that he is in loco parentis. Reread my tweet without looking for any reason to be offended and you’d probably realize that. Bless your condescending little heart.
@DirIEDRes_UWEng @1dgrn@KSVesq I am sure you would. But KSV and I work in the private sector where people judge you, including on speaking ability. If they don't like what they hear, they don't hire you. You can get as upset as you want and call KSV's commenter sexist or mansplainer, but he had a point.
@dc_emc @PDXJenni @KSVesq Jennifer K brought up linguistics, not me, when claiming pauses are helpful markers, which was irrelevant to the original post. I didn't say anything about linguistics other than you don't need a degree in it to know repeating "like" is distracting.
@PDXJenni @dc_emc@KSVesq You can disagree with whether it was appropriate to reach out to her, but she did give a public presentation. And his wording was awkward, at best, but the guy probably had a helpful point (I can’t say because I didn’t see the speech).
@PDXJenni @dc_emc@KSVesq No, you are changing the subject. The guy said she kept throwing in “like.” It’s a common tic that most presenters try to avoid, not like a pause that can be used effectively. Regardless of whether it was appropriate for him to contact her.
@ms_peaceweaver@KSVesq A woman giving a professional talk, presumably to help her business. If she’s doing something to sound less professional, I don’t think it’s misogynist to point that out. He seems like he was trying to be helpful.
@dc_emc @PDXJenni @KSVesq Seriously? You think someone needs, like, a degree in linguistics to say, like, that saying like all the time is, like, annoying? I didn’t to med school either, but I’m confident that smoking is bad for you and that pimples aren’t usually fatal. Apologies for mansplaining there.
@1dgrn@KSVesq And it was solid advice. It’s annoying when someone peppers their speech with “like” and it sounds immature—like a vapid high school student.
@1dgrn@KSVesq Seriously? She gave a public talk about her profession and it’s somehow inappropriate that someone gave feedback? Be as offended as you want. If I’m looking to move my practice group, I’m not hiring a recruiter who is going to bristle every time I make a suggestion.
@BazookaHiccup @KSVesq You and KSV can be as offended as you want. To me, her comment came across as unnecessarily nasty and someone who bristles at criticism.
@toddc190@JeremyWGR No way for Leslie Frazier. The Bills have talent, for sure, but he gets more out of them than almost any other D coordinator would. Especially with the injuries to the secondary early in the year. My bigger fear with Frazier is that he will get hired away as a head coach.
@TomJumboGrumbo Olbermann reminds me of Giuliani. He was a great sportscaster, like Giuliani was a great mayor, but then he changed to politics, like Giuliani went to national politics, and the crazy took over.
@SportsRoc2 It seems like the last few weeks Doresy was forcing the running game and short passes to get ready for the stretch run of home games in bad weather, to give Allen’s elbow time to heal, or both.
