Acabo de descobrir que es conserva metratge filmat de la llegendària adaptació teatral del VOODOO MACBETH (1936) d'un Orson Welles de 20 anys, amb un elenc format exclusivament per actors negres. Fins i tot 90 anys més tard continuaria sent —malauradament— una obra provocadora.

The movie Warner Bros. tried to destroy is about a corporation destroying evidence of its own products hurting people.

Warner Bros. spent 75 years building Looney Tunes on a single premise: a mega-corporation's faulty products and corporate cover-ups are the villain. In 2022 they greenlit a $72M live-action hybrid where Wile E. Coyote sues ACME for a lifetime of exploding rockets and anvils that never landed on the Road Runner. They finished the film. Test screenings scored 14 points above the family film average, with 95% of audiences rating it Very Good or Excellent. Phil Lord called it wonderful. BenDavid Grabinski called it the best of its kind since Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

In November 2023, David Zaslav shelved it for a $30M tax write-off.

Public outcry forced a reversal. Ketchup Entertainment bought the rights for $50M. Run that math. A $72M asset got priced at $30M on the way to the landfill. A smaller distributor then paid $50M for rights Warner was about to trash. Zaslav priced a completed, top-testing family film $20M below what a rival was willing to pay for it.

The part nobody talks about: Ketchup is marketing the rescued release with the line "the trailer ACME doesn't want you to see." The closing voiceover reads "The Acme Corporation is releasing this film for accounting purposes only."

Warner Bros. wrote that villain for 75 years. Then they played him.
