@NganNguyen1054@beh353 Nutrition and health in childhood has strong ties to our overall morbidity and mortality in adulthood. I think this will be a great way for you to incorporate what we have learned this semester!
@DietitianOnline@MaryRossF This is a good article explaining the significance of nutrition and diet during pregnancy, in regards to my last post! This is from one of our certified dietitians #beh353@beh353
As my future goal is to be an obstetrics/women health PA, I will incorporate nutrition by explaining the importance of pregnancy diet and childhood diet to future parents! #beh353@beh353
Aside from being a reputable source, this is a great link that provides recommendations for engaging children in their own health. We know lifelong habits to health form early on, and engaging children in their own care is critical! #beh353@beh353
Healthy eating habits start at a young age. Teach kids about healthy eating with games, coloring books, and MyPlate materials found on https://t.co/hSBiEmCrT6’s “Children” webpage. https://t.co/NfaC2YqtxM

@RoshniNagarajan@beh353 Hi Roshni, I agree that this is a good article! I like how recommendations are categorized by age group, with the recommended caloric intake and serving amounts for each!
Beyond the trusted sources and validation of the article, it provides strong recommendations that are easy to read and explicitly stated with concrete examples of each domain of healthy eating. @beh353#beh353

I chose this article for a number of reasons. For starters, the article is by a .org website which otherwise means it is from a professional organization. I also noticed the information was sourced by the American Academy of Pediatrics on Nutrition…
@tinaamarz55@beh353 This has always been an interesting fact to me! If you read the labels on diet sodas compared to regular sodas, they often have more added sugars and are far unhealthier. This ties back to how important it is to understand food labels!
From a personal standpoint this is a strong reminder of how uncontrollable circumstances in our life can influence one another, and not to judge others for what we do not know regarding their circumstances
One fact I learned this week was that the higher level of education you receive the less likely you are to be in the obesity range (according to research). As a health science student this is just one example of how the SDOH influence each other.
Scientists are studying how to make tasty food that stays fresh and nutritious for the length of a trip to Mars and back. Story by @rboyle31 https://t.co/T6SWJpQ6T5
I take a once daily women’s vitamin and had never looked at the supplement facts before. It was surprising to see just how many vitamins are in one small tablet. I was also completely unaware of the addition of the bioflavonoid and vegetable complexes! #beh353@beh353
@julielee324@beh353 Hi Julia! This is an interesting approach to the potential benefits of supplements. I’m weary that the vitamin alone is the cure to cancer, but it may be boosting their immune system to combat some of the effects of treatment.I’d definitely be interested in researching this more
Although a Pop press article, there is discussion of scientific studies findings and their authors. The listed advice also comes from registered dietitians! It’s not necessarily promoting any social media trends either, but rather providing helpful info!

I would share this article with a patient as it shows diet culture can sometimes hurt us more than help (physically and mentally). The article instead gives methods to eating that can help us tune into our own body and mind needs. @beh353#beh353
Eat your watermelon 🍉 with the seeds. Watermelon seeds are one of the most nutrient-dense varieties of seeds rich in proteins, vitamins, magnesium, zinc and potassium.
Don't throw away the seeds!
@Anderson_y_a Hi Anderson! This is a great choice. Another substitution you could make here and there is for quinoa. It’s a great substitute for rice dishes and is nutrient dense! #beh353@beh353
