Yet again a Labour MP shows complete ignorance when it comes to farming & the rural economy
Siobhain McDonagh is welcome to visit my constituency anytime to see the damage their policy will do to farming families across our country, some of which earn less than minimum wage
Fantastic to see @sarahjolney1's Proportional Representation Bill, which calls for PR in Westminster elections, pass its first reading in the House of Commons today.
Electoral reform is long overdue!
🗣️ As a liberal, I fundamentally believe in empowering people to make decisions about their own lives - including at the end of life.
📕 It’s time for the UK to adopt a compassionate, regulated assisted dying law.

Like Labour budgets of old, this one is slowly unraveling as more people realise the consequences of what it's proposing. We'll all suffer from higher food prices if farming in this country is further attacked ⬇️
I'm calling on the Welsh Government to make funds available to Powys Council to modernise our leisure centre - including Solar PV and better insulation - so that we can protect this vital service well into the future.

The Conservatives are a busted brand in Wales, with no MPs & an atrocious legacy of economic vandalism caused by Liz Truss’s mini-Budget, whom Mims Davies previously backed
The @LibDems are the only UK wide Party that can provide the decent opposition that the country needs
Great to see @WelshLibDems@LibDemDavid on #Waleslive welcoming the additional investment from the UK budget but attacking Labour for hiking up costs for small businesses and farmer rather than taxing energy companies, big banks and multi-nationals
🥀 Today I spoke with @BBCLookNorth about what the budget means for our area.
Here are some of the takeaways👇
🚌 Labour’s bus tax is set to cost working people £500+ a year.
💼 Their tax on jobs will hit local businesses.
🏥 No fix for the social care crisis.
Family farms = backbone of our rural economy in Ceredigion. I remember well the Labour denials during the election about inheritance tax / agricultural land. As Tim Farron says, Lib Dem’s will fight tooth and nail to protect family farms. Labour’s lack of understanding obvious.
The Government is still ignoring the elephant in the NHS waiting room: the crisis in social care.
It's time to end the dither and delay and begin cross-party talks on social care now. Otherwise we will never truly fix our NHS.
Bus routes are the backbone of economic activity in communities across our country - if the Government is serious about growth then it would invest in services which will boost our struggling town centres and high streets.
They must scrap their bus tax from this week's budget.
This budget fails to offer an ambitious vision for Wales. It punishes small businesses, will be a disaster for family farms and fails to deliver the consequential funding in transport Wales is rightfully owed from projects like HS2 and Northern Power House Rail.
Rachel Reeves' "budget for growth" actually LOWERS growth forecasts for future years.
The OBR growth forecasts are lower than they were in the spring statement.
That's what happens when you focus tax rises on jobs and small businesses.
For years Welsh farmers have had to put up with a Welsh Labour Government that doesn’t understand rural areas or the hardship farming families have to go through to put food on our table.
Now it has a UK Government seems committed to making the situation even worse.
This morning I spoke to BBC Radio Wales about:
🏪 Why the Lib Dems oppose tax rises on small businesses
💰 Why we want to see income raised from taxing big banks, oil & gas companies & big tech
🚑 Why we need to see extra funding for the NHS and social care in Wales
Netanyahu's far-right regime’s decision to ban the United Nations’ humanitarian aid service (UNWRA) is just the latest example of its utter distain towards the rest of the world. (1/4)
I'm delighted to have been elected to the Welsh Affairs Select Committee.
I look forward to working cross-party to ensure Wales is at the forefront of Government policy & that the Welsh people are given the fairest deal possible.
