🎯. Codex/Claude can do mostly what OpenClaw does now but it’s nice to fully control it via slack on a local Mac mini. Going all in on either OpenAI or Anthropic this early doesn’t feel right, it’s nice having a neutral hub that can switch models, and bringing it into private slack channels with others to use it multiplayer is awesome.

Use ChatGPT 5.5 w pro ($200/mo) subscription and use Oauth (not the API). Tell your Openclaw to set it up inside of a Codex ACP harness (works definitely better). Seems like it’s almost impossible to hit the limit using this set up. Chat is not quite as agentic as Claude, but it’s super high-quality.

@george__mack I love this framework and hope it can help me teach my team to be higher agency, but IMO it’s often less “willingness to be misunderstood” and more “willingness to be criticized”.

@steipete Been using the Codex harness since you recommended it and 5.5 is better than 5.4 but still a massive drop off from my experience using Opus. Much less agency and honesty when things are failing. A thorough guide to have gpt5.5 work optimally would be helpful.

@levelsio Agreed. GPT 5.5 is better than 5.4 but it's pretty brutal - everything is breaking and it is not a good employee. It has poor agency and doesn't confess when things aren't working right.
