Latest run of Corteva Disease Prediction Model. Continued moisture/dew keeps pushing risk up.... unfortunately we still have 60 days of grain fill left to keep things healthy.

Decent stripe rust found today at Arlington on Kaskaskia and Harpoon wheat. Almost to anthesis. Get out and scout and plan to get those FHB fungicide apps out, which will also take care of this stripe rust coming in. @badgerbean
NDSU finds not all stabilizers are created equal. Even under ideal conditions, DCD based nitrogen stabilizers begin losing efficacy in approximately 18 days compared with 40 days for nitrapyrin based stabilizers. Also, note the slope of efficacy degradation is steeper for DCD.

Tar Spot is here. Observed in multiple counties in central IA within past 24 hours - all at low isolated levels. We will stick to the plan on fungicide for most fields - waiting for at least brownsilks unless pressure ramps up.
First PKP of 2023 in NC WI. Conditions were good but the same can’t be said for much of the area at this time. Hoping to miss some of the rain in the forecast….. @jbrow170

Volunteer corn plants are loaded with hungry Northern Corn Rootworm beetles in Swift County (WC MN). They are breeding and will lay eggs in cracks in soil to survive the winter. Good reason to control volunteer corn. @PioneerSeeds @SWMNpest
SDS vs Brown Stem Rot
What is the Difference?
In both diseases leaves show yellow/browning between the fluorescent green veins but foliage symptoms alone are not enough!
Then you must cut the root open, exposing the pith. SDS will appear white while BSR will appear brown.
Pollination is beginning which means silage harvest is only about 50-55 days away!! Be sure to keep it on your to do list. Milk line 2/3 down the kernel results in highest starch/tonnage.
Tarspotter and the @fieldprophet apps have been running high risk for tar spot of #corn. Today we found the first signs of tar spot in Columbia Co. WI on V8 corn. Earliest find of tar spot in the state since tar spot arrived. The app isn't false. Risk is high. Time to scout!
I ignored the cautions for years. Now I am a stage IV Melanoma Survivor. Take the time for a skin check. And protect yourselves with sunscreen and sleeves. I know … I HATED sunscreen too. That didn’t work out well for me 😔
Great day to check row shutoff settings ! This is important if you update GPS globes, planting tractors, and planters. Your neighbors will remind you if you don’t. @Kevinniebur1@mweninger5@EmilyHerness
Alfalfa finally has some growth to start assessing stands. Initial take is the alfalfa crop survived the winter but would like to see some sun and warmer temps to move off from relying on carbohydrates reserves. #alfalfa
Alfalfa starting to break dormancy in NC WI. All early indications so far look positive with many new stems growing from the crowns and excellent root health as well on this third year stand
