@SarahMac485 Nice one! What water depth did you deploy in? Looks like some fascinating geomorphology there. You might find this of use - https://t.co/5RBetd784P

While weโve had devastating river floods in Australia in recent years, it is startling to imagine these islands completely drowned by storm surge and waves during big hurricanes, as the Ike 2008 water level record plaques show around Galveston town.
En route to #CoastalSediments2023 I had my first US barrier islands experience, traversing Follettโs, famous Galveston & Bolivar Peninsula in Texas. Despite reading about such settings throughout my career I was still shocked at how low and flat they are, and at the development!
It was a tremendous honour to be awarded with @MikeKinsela the inaugural Coastal Achievement Award at the #CoastalSediments2023 conference in New Orleans this week 1/4
Our students are sea-ing science up close with experience working in the field and learning about coastal processes with @DrHannahPower and @MikeKinsela ๐

Brilliant performance last night from @JosephTawadros, James Tawadros and the @A_C_O in the @Merrigong #Wollongong Town Hall. #Vivaldiโs Four Seasons with a Middle Eastern flavour, mixed with assorted Tawadros oud and riq delights - yum!
New #CoastSnap stations at my new locals #BarBeach & #Merewether are growing community awareness of our dynamic coasts & help Novocastrians map beach change through time. And right on time for @surfest! Well done @CityNewcastle @nswenviromedia @UNSWWRL https://t.co/5XZPmHRErG
Iโm very flattered to receive the new Coastal Achievement Award at #CoastalSediments2023 conference with my famous colleague @DocHarleyMD for our work developing #CoastSnap community beach monitoring - communities understanding dynamic and changing coasts https://t.co/8v3bUY6GV8
We will also present the NEW Coastal Achievement Award which recognizes spectacular contributions to #coastalscience by individuals or groups. The first award will go to @DocHarleyMD and @MikeKinsela, founders of #CoastSnap
