2023 Indiana School Psychologist of the Year; Lead School Psych; Diplomate in School Neuropsychology (ABSNP); IASP Board of Directors; NASP Delegate-Indiana
It is imperative our members voice the importance of the ability for specialist level school psychologists to call themselves “school psychologists” in any potential revision of the APA Model Licensure Act. Submit a comment now advocating for this!

The results of this meta-analysis could not, perhaps, be more well-timed for Indiana policy-makers @SecJennerIN. Excellent work by @DrJ_ucsb https://t.co/b6vBneZl87
@ShinnSp@ScienceofRead Maybe. I evaluated a homeschooled child this fall whose parent used this book as the foundational literacy curriculum. The child was in 3rd gr. & could not consistently read CVC words. Standard scores were at near 40 for basic reading. Maybe it’s not so simple for everyone
@burnsmk1 Where in the example provided is there any discussion of advanced PA? The example speaks to basic segmenting. This linking of sound to symbol(s) is a cornerstone of Ehri’s theory of OM.
What an exciting opportunity for Indiana future School Psychologists and the future of School Psychology itself. Please congratulate and share! https://t.co/2pWFt7XxHl
We'll let you get back to your long weekend, first we just need your to write your member of congress and tell them to protect federal funding to address the shortages of school psychologists! Act now! https://t.co/80eJmN8hhk
Meet this month's Early Career Spotlight, Haley Gard of @PHMschools in Indiana. Haley works at two elementary schools and serves on the early childhood assessment team. Read her Q&A to learn more: https://t.co/FsNTJabU2S
@MmeLockhartLDSB This is a great resource. I want to say, though, that you do not need to be diagnosed with dyslexia to receive intervention. Considering the connection to special education, modified programing is largely part of that. I agree with focusing on the needs and not the labels.
In this new statement, we join our partners in expressing concern over efforts to misuse parents’ rights as a smokescreen to hobble schools' ability to provide a comprehensive, factual, and inclusive education to all students. Read our full statement now: https://t.co/1F772uWMTA
@CoreyJPeltier Good thing we adults only do things because we’re intrinsically morivated! I’ll remind myself during upcoming tax season that I’m only doing this because I want to. I should also stop undermining the motivation of actors in the school play with my applause.
Then next Tuesday (2/28) at 7pmEST we have a FREE virtual event about literacy instruction and intervention based on a school corporation-wide model! Com and learn how to support ALL students with literacy learning. Register to receive the zoom link: https://t.co/8Qr4v0JEvb

@burnsmk1@janhasbrouck@JasmineFS208@nellkduke@KellyBCartwrig1@kymyona_burk Thanks for clarifying. I wouldn't advocate for cognitive training or assessment of general EF either. But, many models of EF consider self-regulation to an EF and not vice versa. In looking at the data table, self-regulation was sig. at alpha .05, as much as word recognition
@burnsmk1@janhasbrouck@JasmineFS208@nellkduke@KellyBCartwrig1@kymyona_burk I’m curious about the inclusion of “active self-regulation,” including “executive function skills” in this model. Many would define EF as a neuropsychological construct. Do you advocate for measurement of EF in understanding childrens’ reading difficulties?
An excellent, humbling, and poignant message from @RyanMishler regarding voucher schools and accountability. Public schools remain accountable to state and federal laws and regulations, which also makes them accountable to parents. Voucher schools are not https://t.co/RHdr8CMoKD
The @inschoolpsych stands firmly with @cmonique1023 and @nasponline in opposition to the unacceptable actions of the @DenverHyatt security staff. We join in the request for public and restorative responses by the Hyatt.
@LDAofAmerica@MarkerLearning It not sure how I feel about this. It’s great to provide assistance to kids that may have a disability, but school-based evaluations and private evaluations are not equivalent or interchangeable. Different criteria and, unfortunately, often differences in quality.
