@BrianSuttererMD At the end of the day, this is a martial art and a fighting sport. Comes with the territory, the same way brutal knockouts can sometimes happen in others. Very unfortunate for the guy getting his knee destroyed though. Never want to see that happen.

Re the debate about concussion/TBI, know this: neurons and their connections do not die immediately on impact. The actual damage/death to neural circuits takes days (1-5 or more). THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE *ALL* CONSEQUENCES OF A HEAD HIT IN THE MINUTES/HOURS THAT FOLLOW.
