Today 2 suspected B.1.1.529 (Nu variant) samples were analyzed. Samples were flagged as suspicious because of an S gene dropout qPCR. 1 sample was confirmed to be the new Nu variant. This patient was not vaccinated and developed mild symptoms 11 days after returning from Egypt.

Monday we sequenced the #nCoV2019 genome of the first Belgium case with @nanopore MinION. Suspected sample received @ 9 pm, confirmed and full genome out @ 5 am. From suspected sample to result in 8 hours. All thanks to our great team @KU_Leuven, and protocols of @NetworkArtic
