I feel like a big problem in today’s education is the fact that they give students the “dots” or information they need to know, but they don’t teach them how to connect them, or how to truly understand them on their own. #EEC301S19

@HutchinsTeach @PrinceEa The amount of times I memorized in school and didn’t actually retain the information is too many for me to count. Schools cram the info, give you only enough to get you through the test, and don’t test on your understanding, but rather what you were able to memorize. #EEC301S19

@HontzasTeach @PrinceEa I agree. When students aren’t “good test takers”, they get the stigma from others that they are not good enough. Schools put too much stress on the grades and not enough attention to the individual talents of the student, that may not be reflected in the test grade. #EEC301S19

I couldn’t agree more with @PrinceEa ‘s video. As students, we are taught that our most important achievements are reflected into our test scores. Therefore, we shove our most precious talents down because we feel that if we cannot test well, we cannot be successful. #EEC301S19

I agree, while Twitter could be very useful for some, it wouldn't be the most convenient form of communication for all families and should be used in addition to an old school form of teacher-student-family communication, such as newsletters. #EEC301S19

@TeachDixon I like how you said, "I would grow as a teacher by listening to others". No teacher is perfect, no teacher knows all the tips, all the strategies, etc. Being open to the ideas of others is so important and Twitter is very helpful in making that possible! #EEC301S19

This is very important. We should also strive to pass on this same understanding to our students, by creating a classroom that emphasizes equality and fair treatment for all. We should make it a point to celebrate our differences! #EEC301S19

A3: My biggest take away from Chapter 3 is the importance of getting to know your students/their families, as well as the various ways you can appropriately do so. When we get to know our students, we leave no room for quick and innaccurate assumptions to be made. #EEC301S19
