It has taken far longer than I would care to admit but I've finally completed the KS1 version of my board game. If anyone feels like trialling it I'd greatly appreciate it😌
@Math_files I can see the question before was regarding 4 x 3 =12 so I understand the child’s confusion. Yes multiplication is commutative, but at the childs age (presuming from question difficulty and handwriting) they likely would still be saying “3 lots of 4 is 12”.
@PookyH I find the changes in sex Ed concerning. Obviously is should always be age appropriate, but I feel it’s important for young children to be taught about things such as where is okay to touch and a healthy relationship so they’re more likely to recognise and disclose abuse

@ian_cushing @MrDraperMaths Ugh how demeaning. People talk differently shocker, because we all talk like an essay. There’s interesting videos on how African-American English should be treat as a language with its own grammar rather than ‘slang’ and to teach students to convert to standard English.
@naomicfisher@mbteach@_MissingTheMark Feel this so hard. I was academic but lashed out in certain classes because the bullying was too much, the uniform rules didn’t account for my height and home wasn’t a “safe space”. As a teacher I loved having students visit me in their free time to vent so I could help them
@Headteacherchat@hartmaths Halloween songs e.g. tally charts of how many times thriller, night, killer appear in the song then turning them into bar charts and pie charts whilst eating treats and listening to other songs. & inclusion of real life is always a winner (2/2(
@Headteacherchat@hartmaths On strike days I did alternative lessons, paper plane experiments, codebreaking lessons (incl making mini semaphore flags). Try and theme lessons e.g. around Halloween we’ve studied data representation, so make graphs and charts around famous (1/2)
@educatorpaula Warning ⚠️ a few classes I wasn’t allowed to move despite my desk partner SA me (obvs never shared this with the teacher, liked to think they would have moved me immediately if I’d had the guts to) 2/2
@educatorpaula Agreed I always hated having to choose a seat (if I didn’t get there first because unpopular). At the same time you need to have some allowances for movement so students don’t have to sit next to people who bully them etc. (1/2) ⚠️
@miss_mcinerney I always found it amusing that during the last recession, the UKs creative industry was the only one thriving. I have a graphic design degree and wanted to teach it because as a student I was sick of having fine arts teachers who didn’t understand graphic design (1/2)
