Breaking: Ofsted inspections will restart 'a couple of weeks' later than planned this term, the new chief inspector has told Schools Week, as he launches an internal inquiry into the watchdog's response to the death of headteacher Ruth Perry

What a fabulous breakdown of the DfE Reading Framework. I love how reading is such a priority and a love of reading is to be promoted so well. @s_tate73@whatSFSaid@Therabbits21 @emcarrollauthor @JennyMcLachlan1 @DarrenSimpson44 @KarlDuke8 @anna_terreros @MrEagletonIan
Consider this as a prelude to your Cold Call: Ask students (or adult participants) to discuss/reflect on a question and then make a gesture affirming that they have thought about it and have an answer. That could be done in a variety of ways… (1/x)

@Miss_LA_English Moved to school with centralised lessons, a consistent and centralised behaviour policy and a marking policy that focuses on WCF instead of individual comments. Improved my work life balance dramatically. If I stayed at my first school I would have left after 5 years.
So this week, inclusive LGBTQ+ fairytale picture book The Woodcutter and The Snow Prince by @MrEagletonIan. Sadly, it has incurred homophobic abuse - in unwavering support of LGBTQ+ authors everywhere I'd like to give away a class set of 30. RT to win + spread this beautiful book
@lauratsabet @Bronte24913251 Very true. I think this goes back to the inconsistencies. I was told this year not to annotate thesis statements at all but others got different messages. If the responses didn't carry on with a full essay it would be taken into account.
@Bronte24913251 Agreed, the thesis statement shouldn't be annotated at all. The marking was really inconsistent this year. I think they got very desperate by the end for literature as they didn't have enough markers.
@English_TutorUK @Bronte24913251 Agreed. You read the thesis and keep this in mind as the essay progresses, considering the level they're developing it at through the body of the essay. A thesis statement alone cannot make a level 6 essay - A01 task is given at the end of the essay.
@Bronte24913251 I've marked AQA for years and this has never been policy. We're told to credit the level students have achieved for each AO and once they've hit it solidly once then they've got it. A thesis statement could never be marked at level 6 as it needs support in the body of the essay.

@FunkyPedagogy I've been researching this too as my normal choice of shoes just get worn down so much! I've ordered some Dr Scholls shoes which have comfy foam insides and considering some birdies too! Not cheap but I hope they'll last longer than my usual New Look etc.
For anyone marking for AQA and being emergency taxed (code OT on payslip), call HMRC and tell them that they need to change your tax code. You will need details of your pay. They will tell AQA the updated tax code (should be BR) and you'll be refunded. #aqaexamining
