PRESS RELEASE 1/2
Over 200 political prisoners from at least 19 prisons were released today. So far, 43 identities confirmed.
The junta's propaganda mouthpiece Myawaddy media today stated that 7,012 prisoners would be released. An illegal regime cannot announce an amnesty...
The group Burma Campaign UK welcomed the resolution but said it would have “no practical impact” and that imposing a global arms embargo on Myanmar’s military should have been a “no-brainer first step”.

The Myanmar junta sentenced former student leader and democracy activist Ko Lin Htet Naing, aka Ko James, to three years’ imprisonment on an incitement charge on Wednesday. He has also been charged with terrorism, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
"For those governments that have hesitated to impose targeted sanctions against the junta for its long list of rights violations, the new death sentences should be a clear signal to take action now" says @hrw's @mannymaung https://t.co/dBVOwb17vW
As we look to #HumanRightsDay on December 10, we remember the thousands of human rights defenders, democratic activists, and journalists who are unjustly detained and demand their unconditional and immediate release. #FreeThemAll (1/5)
What has the int' community done to stop the executions of these young activists? They deserve more than statements of concern or condolences. If the military gets away with these executions again, they will normalise using death penalty against anyone who speaks out against them
The illegal #Myanmar military junta is planning to summarily execute at least 7 activists, which is a crime against humanity. Int'l community must act NOW to stop junta's war of terror:
💣 #GlobalArmsEmbargo
✈️ Ban jet fuel
❌ Sanction junta, its biz & associates
👩🏽⚖️ #EndImpunity

The int'l community took very little action after the execution of 4 political prisoners in July. If the military gets away with executing more democracy activists, they will continue to use the death penalty to kill anyone who opposes them. Int'l community must act!
The Burmese military sentenced 7 students to death for their anti-coup movement. These young activists stood up for freedom & democracy in Burma, they were falsely accused & didn't receive fair trial. The int'l community must do everything they can to stop these executions.
Breaking: On 30 Nov, #Myanmar junta's court sentenced to death 7 Dagon University students who were arrested in April 2022 in a teashop.
🚨Internal sources says the junta will execute them on the 7th, 4am.
Their only crime is a desire for #Democracy#saveourstudents#saveburma

A revolving door of political prisoners keeps spinning in Burma. A prominent peace activist, Saw Phoe Khwar was released on 15 Nov just to be rearrested on the same day. Many of those who released last week face similar threat. According to @aapp_burma, 12,976 pp still in jail.
My dad, U Mya Aye, was just released after nearly two years in Insein Prison. Very unexpected & I am very happy. We are a fortunate family, reunited, however, there are 1'000s of other pol. prisoners who remain in prison. Our work for the unconditional release of all pp continues
“The fact that so many people have been jailed demonstrates the level of fear the Burmese military have of the people of Burma. The Burmese military are afraid for their survival and arrest anyone they see as a threat.” https://t.co/y19X66wppp
It was an honour to meet @Zingeris from the Lithuania Parliament to talk about the situation in Burma. During our conversation I asked the Lithuanian gov to impose sanctions on aviation fuel, speak out for political prisoners & provide humanitarian assistance to thousands of IDPs
