Irish athlete Ciara Mageean says she was subjected to a wave of abusive messages on social media after publicly condemning Israel’s ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

The messages reportedly included hateful comments wishing her death from cancer and targeted her health after she revealed her own battle with the disease.

Mageean also said she was accused of antisemitism for criticizing the genocide and calling for Israel to be excluded from international sporting events.

According to a new UN inquiry, Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children in Gaza, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.

No government, army, ideology, or political argument can make the killing, starvation, displacement, and traumatizing of children morally acceptable. A world that excuses the destruction of children has lost its moral center.

We must not grow numb. We must demand an end to genocide, protection for Palestinian children, unrestricted humanitarian aid, accountability for these atrocities, and every child’s right to live in dignity, safety, and peace.

In #Gaza, over 63,000 girls and boys are taking part in classes run by UNRWA in Temporary Learning Spaces in 77 of the Agency's shelters.

But these locations are no substitute for schools. Children need proper classrooms where they can learn, grow and rebuild a sense of normalcy.

For more than 75 years, UNRWA has provided #Palestine Refugee children with quality education. The Agency needs to go back to teaching them in schools, to help build their future.
