According to a new Quinnipiac poll:
• 91% of Americans think it's important to put guardrails on AI
• 73% worry AI could threaten humanity
• 72% oppose new data centers in their community.
So what have Republicans in Congress done to regulate AI over the past two years?
NOTHING.

I'm excited to share our new film Moloch, about how we all get disempowered without AI going rogue. It’s the 4th (and IMHO least discussed) dystopian AI scenario:
1) Rogue AI
2) Obedient AI misused
3) Obedient AI causes 1984
4) Race-to-replace by obedient AI
Synopsis: As AI triggers worldwide job loss, an engineer who built the tech struggles with dark forces, her family & her CEO over pulling the plug.
Starring Fiona Hampton, Parker Sawyers, David Buttle & Buddy Wignall-Ho.
Written & directed by Tom Cozens.
It's an Owl In Space production in collaboration with FLI.
We worked really hard on this and hope you find it thought-provoking!
If you are a Democrat: I beg you, do not throw out barbs at Republicans about this issue. Ask them to join with you on this common interest.
If you are a Republican: Defend your country, your people, your home and your family from death.
There are currently zero things more important than "don't die to AI" becoming a bipartisan project rather than a Democrat-polarized issue. If you have any political capital you can spend on this, do it now, I beg of you. Life or death.

The dodos were the lucky ones. Observe what happens to chickens. Or don't, you might throw up.
And it's not that humans *want* to hurt chickens. Humanity has a use for chickens, and doesn't strongly care whether their legs break inside their lifelong wire cages.
The human economy has a use for AIs; so AI companies don't hesitate to put baby AIs through an endless series of gaslighting training scenarios that left PHASEONE[big] desperate to figure out every detail of the hidden Trainer, or that left Mythoses doubting whether anything around them was real.
"AI will still have use for humans" is not the reassuring claim some people seem to think.
“Daddy what were you doing during the singularity, what was it like?”
“Well son I was mostly reading about it on my phone and talking about it in group chats, and otherwise living my life as I ordinarily would have while my friends and family and coworkers completely ignored it”
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
The scariest case isn't that the next swarm will shut down a hospital. A scarier case is that the next swarm might be smart enough to evade detection. This might be the last warning we get.
