Kenya Pipeline Company has confirmed receiving a strike notice from the Kenya Petroleum Oil Workers Union and says it is committed to resolving employee grievances through established legal mechanisms and structured dialogue.
In a statement issued on October 9, 2026, KPC affirmed its commitment to fully implementing the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement while complying with all applicable labour laws, adding that management and union representatives remain in active discussions with third-party facilitation from the Federation of Kenya Employers.
The company expressed concern over public media exchanges, stating that public debate does not aid resolution and that it will engage the union strictly through structured industrial dispute resolution forums.
KPC reassured the public and regional stakeholders that it will prioritise employee welfare while ensuring the safe, reliable and uninterrupted transport of petroleum products across Kenya and the wider East African region.
The standoff reflects ongoing friction over labour relations and operational governance, with the union previously raising concerns over remuneration, overtime compensation, staffing levels and compliance with negotiated agreements.
Imagine a Kenya where forests thrive, rivers flow, and communities enjoy a cleaner environment. With 2 billion trees already planted and a target of 15 billion by 2032, the country is taking steps towards a greener future. The journey continues, one tree at a time.
