Paul Calandra said school boards would choose their CEOs.
Then Ford’s hand-picked TDSB supervisor chose one for them.
Say one thing. Do another. Take control.
Repeat.

Remember this rude confrontation? Today, the new TDSB CEO was announced, Camillo Cipriano. Bill 101 received Royal Assent. You were adamant that trustees would be selecting the CEO. The Bill transfers budget responsibilities from trustees, ending your rationale for supervision.
The @fordnation education power grab must end. @PaulCalandra has created a crisis in education and then thoroughly misrepresented the facts and the government’s response.
The Auditor General was very clear regarding Special Education funding and the budget challenges that have resulted. Children in need of Special Education programming need support and compassion to meet their academic and educational potential.
Ontario’s families deserve a government that is honest and invested in the success of its children!
End supervision now. Stop meddling in the trustee elections in 8 jurisdictions now.

NEW: Government-supervised school board mistakenly distributes email identifying teachers at risk of layoffs, raising serious privacy concerns & prompting Ontario's privacy watchdog to look into the incident. My first official byline with @Thetrilliumca: https://t.co/GOWBrLZ9Pf
Grading attendance & participation seems incongruent with the Ontario government's stance on meritocracy, will fuel the flames of grade inflation, and will likely be subject to racial bias.

BREAKING: In addition to cutting hundreds of teaching jobs next year, the TDSB also plans to eliminate 186 school-based support worker roles. The board says it's due to a projected enrolment decline. The union says it will put students at risk. #onted https://t.co/mgKUOV7AUQ
NEW: The Ford government initially said school board supervisors would be paid a max of $350K / year. What wasn't mentioned is that several are billing through their private companies and adding HST.
That means they could cost closer to $400K. #OnPoli

The TTC has published the schedule for 6 Finch West, and the travel times/speeds are not impressive compared to the existing bus service. https://t.co/jQWtokzGr0
We were pleased to welcome @ChandraPasma, NDP Shadow Education Minister, to our annual Branch President's training. Thank for highlighting the importance of building solidarity through everyday conversations. Together, we can build a movement. #onted#osstf#onpoli
This is one of the most spectacular grand slams you’ll ever see. The swing, the reaction, everything.
Vlad Jr. in the ALDS: 6 for 7.
The entire Yankees team in the ALDS: 6 for 44.
Weird how Republicans can link Tylenol to autism with no evidence but can't see the link between guns and mass shootings despite a mountain of evidence.
The FDA statement ends with a paragraph undermining its own warning.
They signal parents to avoid acetaminophen. Except sometimes. And then:
No “causal relationship… established” with ADHD or autism
AND
Alternatives to acetaminophen have “well-documented adverse impacts.”
Audits for the four #onted boards put under supervision in June found no budget mismanagement - just severe underfunding by the province. Now over 500K students across the province start school this week with no trustee representation for NO CLEAR REASON.
“It’s time to stop the blame game and properly fund our schools.” – MPP & NDP Education Critic @ChandraPasma
ICYMI - Last Friday, the Ford government announced a takeover of four school boards, a move that is being condemned by everyone from OSSTF leaders, opposition politicians, education workers, to community members as an attack on democracy and a distraction from the real crisis: chronic underfunding ‼️
📍 “Despite the TDSB balancing its budget, the minister is imposing supervision which is a distraction from the real issue of the chronic underfunding of public education that has been happening for years under Doug Ford's Conservatives,” said Michelle Teixeira, President of @OSSTFtoronto.
📍 In Ottawa, OSSTF D25 President Stephanie Kirkey added that she is “very concerned" about the government's move because it "removes transparency and opportunity for community input, including our ability to provide input from the perspective of our members, on the impacts of board decisions.”
The Ford government is clearly undermining democracy & public oversight while continuing to underfund classrooms and shortchange students. SHAME!
