Nigeria is almost half women. In the National Assembly? Not even 5%.
4 of 109 Senate seats. 17 of 360 House seats. 0 female governors across 36 states. 15 states with zero female legislators.
We had a female governor once, Dame Virginia Etiaba, Anambra, 2006. It's been 20 years since.
I believe representation isn't a favour. It's math.
Women's groups are still pushing for the Reserved Seats Bill in the National Assembly, still pending as of Feb 2026.
I’m curious to ask: how many women can actually afford nomination forms and campaign costs? How many parties are willing to back a female candidate?
