remote is hard. working in office is easier. but all our team wasn't in one room 2/3 of the day. so we're always at least somewhat remote, and slow.

so built the grid – a simple way to talk/pair on screens quickly by clicking on teammates, without calling or meeting. "an extension to the office",

we wrote our own media & webrtc engine in Rust as it had to be fast and work well.
we've been using it everyday for the past year. it got more fun and functional:

- screen-share is high-quality, low latency, and low-CPU via hardware acceleration. It's rendered natively on the GPU. artifact-free. It only uses additional %3 CPU on top of normal voice and %12 total. compare it to Slack with 3-4x that.
- voice is 48khz, stereo and with minimal processing to retain original quality to avoid fatigue in long convos.
- pop share let's you share the webpage link you’re currently viewing to your linked teammates by pressing option + P.
- hold to talk in noisy environments like a walkie-talkie.
- press Option + S to share the active screen really quickly and other get a little notification to view it in one click.
- see tiny avatars of teammates who are on the grid in your macOS menubar.
- floating pin: Keep the app close while you can see who's linked to you and your mic status.
- multi-cursors in screen-sharing. Full remote control coming soon with shared clipboard and file drop support.
- realtime status: Press `/` and start typing an status.
- presence Indicators: Your avatar shows when you're listening to music, have airpods, or your speaker is muted. know when is a good time to talk.
- close the door for private conversations.
- nudge: send lil👋 to teammates to ping them to link to you.
and more.

nothing beats instant access to teammates in a startup.

we're building it. it has bugs, but it has transformed how we work. we love our office, but the other 2/3 of time, we rely on the grid. let's make it the closest thing to being in a room with the team ♥︎

we're a small team hacking for years at a problem many think is impossible to solve.
this week we're releasing stuff that let our target users replace 3 apps with Noor in their team stack.

we're targeting a specific user base who care deeply about using high quality software. they care about speed. they can't stand sloppy UI. they want to build product as fast as they can as a team working around the clock, and they're willing to risk using new tools for gaining that advantage. %90 of people trying Noor don't fit that. I'm focused on delivering for the other %10.

goal is we make something a few startup teams love to use and make Noor one of their unique advantages in the battlefield.
