Three years ago, we promised to move the KRG’s cash-based payroll into licensed banks through the MyAccount initiative.

This week, more than one million citizens will be paid through our partner banks, giving them access to modern banking services and a growing ATM network.

Over 85% of the Kurdistan Region now enjoys access to 24-hour electricity through the KRG’s Runaki initiative.

We’ve come a long way since the first neighbourhood in Erbil switched in July 2024.

This month alone, we switched over a million people — bringing the total to more than 5.5 million.

Prime Minister @masrourbarzani has promised reliable 24-hour electricity to every home and business by the end of 2026 — and it’s ahead of schedule.

In the process, we’ve turned off nearly 6,000 noisy, costly, polluting diesel neighbourhoods generators. That’s the equivalent of taking over a million cars off the road. Our neighbourhoods are cleaner, safer and quieter as a result.

The new progress tariffs continue to protect the vulnerable households. In fact, nearly 80% of customers are paying less than they did under diesel generators.

We’re growing our industrial sector to diversify Kurdistan’s economy and create more jobs.

This new phone and tablet factory in Erbil will provide 400 jobs and open more opportunities for our people.

I planted the first tree of Erbil’s Green Belt today — a 7 million tree project that will raise the capital’s green coverage to 25%.

Over 500,000 public sector beneficiaries have now registered for current bank accounts.

One participating bank will soon announce loans of up to 40 million IQD for any KRG beneficiary registered in the #MyAccount initiative — with zero collateral requirements.

The naysayers were wrong.

Over the past year, with nearly 150 new ATMs installed, the Kurdistan Region has moved up nearly twenty spots in the global index.

This is the minimum requirement and in line with @cbiraq regulation: one ATM per 1,000 beneficiaries. All banks in the #MyAccount initiative meet the regulation.

Moreover, our hub design/initiative has attracted interest from banks outside of the #MyAccount initiative.

We will reach the global average in the next couple of years while other payment streams start soon.
