The Shiromani Akali Dal vehemently condemns the misbehaviour meted out to Majitha MLA @Ganievekaur Majithia by a DSP when she sought to ensure transparency in the scrutiny of @Akali_Dal_ candidates’ nomination papers in her constituency.
▪️ We demand strict action against the DSP as well as other police and civil officers who have murdered democracy in Majitha and other places across the State by preventing opposition candidates from filing their nomination papers for the forthcoming municipal elections.
▪️ Chief Minister @BhagwantMann, who is personally overseeing the hijack of democracy, is directly responsible for the humiliation of a woman legislator at the hands of a DSP.
▪️ I appeal to the State Election Commission to take strict action in this matter. Failing which, it will be surmised that the Commission is complicit in this act of humiliation and has no interest in protecting democracy and democratic institutions.

• Punjab Govt’s Information & Public Relations Department recently issued a ₹6.32 crore tender to Mumbai-based White Rivers Media Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for publicity of government schemes, including the ₹1000-per-month scheme for women — a scheme which has still not been implemented on ground.

• Soon after the controversy surfaced, Punjab Government transferred PR Secretary Ramvir and Director Akshita Gupta from the department.
This raises serious questions — was the reshuffle done to suppress the growing controversy around publicity tenders and misuse of taxpayers’ money?

• This is not the first time the AAP government has spent crores on advertising and PR companies while the actual delivery of schemes on ground remains questionable.

• Punjab is already under massive debt, and many departments struggle with delayed salaries and financial stress, yet crores are being spent on image-building campaigns.
Punjab needs governance and delivery, not expensive PR exercises funded by public money. #punjab
