@drkeithsiau@albertoortegana This is categorically not amalgam tattoo - as multiple others have said this is retraction cord, which is used in restorative dentistry procedures to accurately isolate the margins of a prepared tooth
@anaesthetic_spr Being currently on both the GMC register as a doctor and GDC register as a dentist, no I was not a doctor when I was a dentist,
I was in fact a dentist. And the road to OMFS includes a medical degree for a good reason - it is a medical specialty
@LarcombePeter@MiloKostusiak@Choudhr69986800 Can I ask Peter, how does this come about >200k? Whilst I’m a number of years away from consultancy I am trying to take a long view with financial planning
@DocMeezbah@agemjourney I think this is my big concern (also currently doing one) but it unfortunately seems to be a box that needs checked if I want a formal education component in my long term career
@juliaisobela Malaga is usually a good call, loads to see and do, gorgeous old town area to wander through with lots of nice bars and restaurants, guadi museum, flights pretty cheap from most places in UK too
@davidbridges@DrLKVaughan Human Medicines regulations 2012 say otherwise, doctors and dentists can prescribe as per primary quals, NMP qual allows nurses/pharmacists/paramedics etc to prescribe, usually tied into advanced practice training
@chriskilroy@el_dentisto@TrowsdaleGary @andjamwar Not if they’re a consultant surgeon. Historical tradition from pre-19th century dictates that surgeons revert to Mr/Miss after entering specialist surgical training (and passing the MRCS) as a nod to the barber surgeon roots of the specialty
@juliaisobela And tied to this, try to eat your meals normally but 12 hours offset - breakfast at 6pm, lunch at 1am, dinner at 6am sort of thing. What actually works for you is so individual it takes a while to figure out
@juliaisobela Prior to the first night of a run, I have always tried to stay up *ridiculously* late (like 3-4am) and then sleep through as much of the daytime of night 1 as possible getting up as close to your leaving time as possible, helps flip your body clock
@JanThou95@DrGoblin3 Hi Jane, I have a medical degree and a dental degree. None of this is accurate. Doctors working in OMFS can do some “dental” procedures, and an emergency physician can replant a tooth. For a doctor to practice dentistry is illegal.
@Roddy_Neilson@UMAPsUK@pa_StephenNash Interestingly, the cubs were still using that version of the badge in the 90s! I’ve got one knocking about somewhere too
@juliaisobela I was speaking to a classmate about this a couple of days ago, I suspect the whole thing relies on a few lines of code from 20 years ago and it all breaks if they try to change anything
@TAhillan Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. I’ve worked with a multitude of OMFS consultants who embody this, individual actions appear slow and deliberate but the outcome is technically complex operations completed accurately, safely and quickly. The same surely applies in medicine
