I know some of the most amazing people. @MommasHistory visited Newtown Historical Society this weekend. Our tiny historical society could offer some deep, meaningful, beautiful learning through Cheyney's teaching. ❤️
These are images of Cheyney McKnight from @MommasHistory who was recently featured in this Vogue spread. Reflecting on her penchant for mixing historical silhouettes with modern textiles like Dutch wax prints, McKnight said, "[i]f my ancestors could dress however they wanted to, I imagine this is how they wanted to dress...Everything I do—everything—is for my ancestors." Note the Django Jane bamboo knockers. ✊🏿 https://t.co/1vWemLqkFu

@KimberlyNFoster Just in case you need an expert. I can tell you that domestic labor did not begin with American chattel slavery. Enslaved persons worked in almost every profession. The job did not make a person a slave, but their status as property. 😒
Black people demand results for your vote! No more should Democrats take our votes, and throw us scraps or do nothing in return! Multiple times in contested elections it has been black people that have delivered the win to Democrats. We demand results!
@NYGovCuomo Thank you Mr. Cuomo for fighting tooth and nail to save our lives. I see you. It means a lot that you aren’t just letting this happen. You aren’t just accepting the cards we were dealt. You are fighting for a reshuffle.
THREAD: Although I haven’t been able to obtain a test, I’m currently on day 6 of what is most likely the Corona Virus. After hearing Trump talk about how we need to go back to work, I wanted to share a bit of what my experience has been like...as a healthy 33 year old.
We are facing a generation-defining challenge.
But America is America because of our ability to overcome adversity and challenges.
Together we will get through this and come out even stronger. #NewYorkTough
