At the #IndiaSmartUtilityWeek, @MonaliZeya, Director – Climate, CIFF in India, spoke on the panel “Gender Balance in the Energy Sector”, reflecting on how the narrative is steadily shifting from viewing women as beneficiaries to recognising them as decision‑makers in India’s energy transition.
She emphasised that women are already shaping the sector across policy, technical and financial roles, and at the community-level through decentralised and renewable energy systems. As new opportunities emerge across the clean energy value chain, she highlighted the importance of moving beyond isolated pilots towards scalable, systemic approaches that build skills, create meaningful entry points, and strengthen leadership pathways for women in energy.
She also underscored how this aligns with India’s broader national vision of women-led development and the country’s aim of Viksit Bharat 2047. Empowering women to participate fully in the clean energy transition is not only a matter of equity; it is central to driving innovation, accelerating climate action, and realising India’s development goals.
