📊📚 Exciting Announcement for the Curious Minds! 📖
I'm excited to share the release of our new volume, “Mathematics of Public Health: Mathematical Modelling from the Next Generation”. 1/7
I am using "exit tickets" this semester. Usually, they give me some things to think about, where my blindspots are, what students are most confused about, etc. Today for some reason, the notes were full of statements like "I can't believe I am actually getting this!!" #happyprof
I just found out that my photo of the math building at McMaster University (@MacMathAndStats) has been featured in Seoul National University's alumni magazine. https://t.co/KY2kYsiKlY
Grading midterm 2: impressed with improvements! I'd given a little more guidance on approaching the problems, which no one seemed to care. Well, exam time comes, everyone's following those strategies! Anecdotal lesson here is that any bits of specific guidance can go a long way.
Happiness Calendar 2022 - One of my new year's resolutions for 2022 was to keep track of my daily happiness. Overall, 2022 has been an eventful yet moderately happy year for me; on the scale of 1 to 5, my average daily happiness score was ~3.18. Here's to 2023!
Shocked by the news coming from Itaewon, a familiar neighborhood of Seoul where many of our friends live and work. Sending condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and sympathy to the residents and first responders on the scene who did their best to help save lives.
The Fields Institute and @MathTaskForce join the many colleagues, friends, students & family members grieving the sudden loss of Tom Hurd. He was a great mentor to the @McMasterU community and valued leader in our Mathematics for Public Health network.

@FieldsInstitute @MathTaskForce @McMasterU Today during our biweekly meetinf we had a moment of silence in memory of Prof Hurd. I had only recently joined to work with him on a modeling project. Always caring, in one of our last interactions he asked me how my wife was feeling about our stay in Canada. He will be missed.
