@ThoughtfulSaint@CapturingChrist Be consistent Jacob, you don’t ever rebuke guys like Robert Boylan for similar behavior despite constantly exhibiting it online.
Nor do you guys ever seem to cite Alma 5:30-31 to one another as a warranted rebuke for mocking their fellow man.
You’re virtue signaling.
@emuse1955 Evidently LDS apologists don’t believe they need to heed the teaching / warning of Alma 5:30-31 when it comes to those they dislike or disagree with.
Would also recommend you look up “Peacemakers Needed” sermon given by the late Russel M. Nelson, he rebukes such behavior.
@emuse1955 I’d recommend:
“30 And again I say unto you, is there one among you that doth make a mock of his brother, or that heapeth upon him persecutions?
31 Wo unto such a one, for he is not prepared, and the time is at hand that he must repent or he cannot be saved!”
- Alma 5:30-31
On the one hand, Mormons will maintain that they worship the same God as Christianity.
On the other, Mormons apologists say things like this and reveal that’s not really the case.
This is how #MormonMyths operate in real time
@ThoughtfulSaint@mrmdotorg Then you are certainly wrong about your denial of regress of gods; as the collective witness of your leaders affirms some form of regress.
The real question:
Will you repent & correct course?
@CapturingChrist@emuse1955 IMHO — don’t give someone like Boylan the time of day for a debate about anything. He is a belligerent & cantankerous individual. (Screenshot taken today)
@ThoughtfulSaint@CapturingChrist Now be consistent & call out your apologist friends on your side of the fence who engage in inappropriate behavior as well.
@ThoughtfulSaint Then why do you trust the likes of Blake Ostler more than LDS prophetic tradition on issues like the nature of God & regress of Gods? Runs counter to your collective witness models & seems to be more of the arbitrary selection model.
@ThoughtfulSaint Wrong.
Smith in Sermon in the Grove:
“I want to reason a little on this subject. I learned it by translating the papyrus which is now in my house. I learned a testimony concerning Abraham, and he reasoned concerning the God of heaven.”
He then paraphrases Abraham 3:16-19.
Oaks affirmed apotheosis in his 1995 ‘Apostasy and Restoration’ General Conference talk, and rejected the concept of theosis as understood by Eastern Orthodox contrary to what online defenders of Mormonism tend to argue
Note:
apotheosis =\= theosis
@chaserracer3302 Good to see some pushback from members. His influence has been growing among some young LDS men, and his view of the KFD — which is contrary to historic teaching & belief seems to be one reason they are attracted to his ideas.

@polysophical Agreed.
Yet doesn’t your church encourage & even have the audacity to claim people considering it in cases of possible exceptions (there are none) that they can get confirmation via prayer (or from God if we are being blunt) to do it?
