@AllisonLaRoy551 When I read this, I thought they had been imprisoned on the island by the stone-eater from the obelisk or the oregene that came to kill them. It would fit that the islands are prisons if very few are aware they exist, but this book is not predictable in some ways #Engl551

@NoahHazzze With all these new characters, I'd say that all the individual stories likely connect to the bigger whole since that seems to be where most of the apocalyptic novels seem to end up or at least that their paths will cross eventually. In this case, could be in the sequels. #Engl551
